Get a hacksaw or junior hacksaw, even better a new smart multi cutter. If none of above a dremmel cutter, cut 2 sides of bolt away to the nearest size to get a standard size spanner on it. Had to do this on my old astra when changing the oil.

It's a common problem amongst vauxhalls, I just googled it when I had problems and that's the answer they all came up with. Make sure you get a replacent plug before you remove it this way as i started it on a saturday and my local dealer couldn't get a new one till the Tuesday!

Just go very careful that you don't pull the thread out of the sump if the plug is siezed in, I have seen this happen a few times. You can also buy a pump that extracts the oil out through the dipstick tube so could be worth looking at if you have no luck with the plug.

I wouldnt advise whacking it about, i did this once and it worked but it put a hairline fracture in the sump i didnt know about until a week later when i was on the motorway and a stone or something hit it and split it in two 4 litres of oil all over the M1 :@ , not good..

Thanks to you all, for all the helpful advice....
Think I'm going for the "stilsons", then if that fails, might try the pump, to extract the oil.... guess its not quite as effective, as draining the oil from the sump, but I'll see how it goes, next weekend!
