Ford Evos Concept.

Ford Evos Concept.
Could this concept resemble things to come from Ford in the next few years?
Looks quite stylish although Ford say it will never hit the road but who's to say that a toned down version may not happen in the future? If it ever does make it in to production i hope it's not with that interior.

Can't see why anyone has been comparing this to a Capri.
It has 4 doors, Capri 2.
It has wrong wheel drive, Capri has correct wheel drive.
It has (theoretically) ultra-modern efficient petrol-electric hybrid engines, Capri had boat anchors even by the standards of the day.
Most of all,
It looks God awful, Capri's look awesome.

I assume you're handy behind the wheel and can exploit an RWD chassis to it's full extent. Best of luck in the D1 next year mate...
Uh huh... so they do. Welcome to the 21st century.
The Aussies still get cool RWD Fords... but they're not run by a bunch of fucking benders that love taxing the bollocks off motorists to help cover costs of ridiculous government schemes/policies.
So just import an Aussie Ford and you're laughing.
Cheers,
Grant

Doors are just for the benefit of the motor show and would not be on a production model (if it ever got that far). I think in the article it says they are just for a bit of motor show "pizzazz" or something along those lines, i suppose it gives people a better view of the interior with the gull wing doors up.

I like it, I think it would kinda grow on you. Looks great from the front, and side.
Yeah the doors would have to change, but hey it's a concept, many things would be adapted, for a production model, though I doubt the drive end......sorry to all the FWD haters out there.
And I think Ford have already proved what they can do with transferring power down on a FWD car, why spend more development money transferring that from the front to the rear to please the minority.

I was in a local Ford dealers today and found out why they wont be making a 3dr Focus!! The "Evos" concept is actually going into production and it will be as the "Ford Capri"!! The sales rep was briefed about it. It wont have pop up doors etc, and will likely come with the 2.0 ecoboost engine! Speaking of which the alreadt claimed 247bhp for the mk3 Focus ST may even be as much as 260bhp from the factory!!!
They supposedly held off and watched VWs sucess with the Scirocco (over the Golf GTI and R32 etc) and thought why make a 3dr Focus, as the mk2 focus 3drs in Europe accounted for 4% of sales, whenever they could revive the Capri brand and have a direct aim at VW with the Scirocco!! It was put to me that why would Ford globally tool up for a 3dr version, when for just a lil extra cash....go buy an Evos/Capri!!! I said people will still want a fast family car!! He said if you wanna fast family car: buy a Focus st, you wanna 3dr fast car buy the Capri/Evos. You wanna sensible family car: buy a normal 5dr Focus derv or petrol!!
Suppose it makes sense!!
He also said the Focus and fiesta st is a certainty for early to mid 2012!!!
Things are looking good!!

Wangers - the golf gti brand is about to die!! They have ran out of ideas and also have done the "R" brand!! And as mentioned, why tool up for a 3dr, whenever they can go back into a market they once dominated??

From: Norfolk Drives: Couple of Fords
The Golf GTI has been around for decades, as still seems to have a huge fan base. The "R" came out in the MK4 Golf, it was and still is, different to the GTI.
Do you have a source for this information?
Also, on the topic of a 3dr Focus, how many 3dr MK2 STs did you see here? Most of them were 3dr, so I think limiting it to a 5dr is a risk, given how most here want a sporting model as a 3dr. Making it 5dr only might hurt sales. They need to badly do something with the current Focus to stop it looking like a bloody Kia anyway...

i really like that and i agree with the guy who said it has a touch of alfa in it. I do think though that most newish 5door cars all look pretty much the same, its a shame car design is heading in one way only
