Default Removing Esc Cos Clutch Pedal??

Anyone got any idea how to do it??? Changing the clutch ratchet on me Esc Cos and all Ive done so far is remove the 2 retaining clips on each end of the bar and push the bar in 0.5cm pmsl... Never done one of these before, so any pointers would be appreciated

Cheers...

I found it to be the single hardest job I'd ever done on a car

There is a braket that is the left hand hole that the bar goes through, this goes in a 'u' shape up over the back of the clutch pedal, and then has two studs that have nuts on through the main part - taking these off will help, but I don't envy you in the slightest

It will probably be the grooves in the bar catching on all of the springs/washers/bushes that you are never going to be able to get back together

Phone a mechanic mate, seriously

I had to change that bracket (as it broke when my cable did ), so pretty much left that bar where it was, and took the pedal off the end of the bar (after removing that bracket) There is just no room and being upside-down in the footwell doesn't help.

I am a mechanic mate (Not qualified, just learn by doing things meself and work on alot of other peoples cars), just never done one of these before

Im just trying to work out how to get that bracket off now, as taking the pedal off the pin sounds alot easier pmsl...

About the time I was putting by back out for the *sixth* time, I though it might have been a good idea to whip the seat out - perhaps that will help?

Right, I have had the clutch ratchet on and off mine twice...... (first one was supplied incorrectly)

Book way;

Seat out, centre console out, heater box unbolted and dropped down (asif..... it rests on the blody carpet and sound-deadeningm that b'stard aint moving down)

As steve says, unbolting the bracket does help though can make it difficut to put back together... though I would still unbolt it, you will have to jiggle the pedals a bit to slide bar out.... it only comes out one way obviously (towards heater box)

I did that the first time as I wanted to replace matrix, so heater box had to be slide out anyway....

BUT its an absolute bitch....

The second time I did it, seat out, usual stuff in book but didnt take console or heater box out, simply cut a little hole in the side f the heater box with a hot knife to allow the bar to slide into the box, if ya get me.... still a bastid job which took me a few hours and alot of swearing, make sure you remember exactly how it comes apart, ie washers springs and nylon bushes etc.....

Hope you got the right ratchet mate .... did mine on a sunday and had the right ratchet for vin but was shit, the original one which came out was from a 4x4 saph!!

There is a better way

Remove the steering cololm ,, easy to do ,,Pinch bolt under the bonnet ,, steering shrouds ,, ( INSIDE ) 2 ,, 13MM BOLTS , DISCONNECT ALL WIPER SWITCHES ETC AND ITS OUT

Remove the complete peddle box ,,4 x 13mm bolts ,,,change ratchet on the bentch ,,easiy peesy ,, replace everything
