Default dot 4 - 5.1

I have a 2wd saff cossie and have just put new calipers on the front and new braided lines front and back.

can i fill the brake system up with 5.1 or should i change all the copper lines front to back etc as i've been told that dot 4 and 5.1 shouldn't be mixed?

cheers,
Phil

Unless it's a dedicated track or race car and regular brake fluid changes are being carried out I would not use 5.1 on a road car. The extra performance of the 5.1 is not necessary on a road car IMO and also it's more hydroscopic so absorbs moisture more quickly than 4.0 hence more regular changes needed....

Don't know about mixing but cannot see it would do any harm, maybe just flush the 5.1 through for a bit longer than you normally would to get as much of the old 4.0 out of the system and rear calipers as possible..

my 2p..
