smoking diesel. PLEASE HELP!
fookin diesels
changed the cam belt on my n reg 1.8td mondeo....but been having real problems getting the sucker timed up right as it was beeing a total arse
anyway, now got her running quite, no pinking ect but shes a bit on the rich side its not major but she's smoking a bit when you shove your foot down (didnt di it before the belt change)
now can anyone tell me which way i need to turn the pully on the injector pump to stop this????
also, when they are pinking is that caused by the injector pump being set wrong or the cam sproket being set wrong? or both?

any help greatly apreaciated!!!!!

ok, pretty confident that the gasket ect is fine, washed all the crap off and its definatly come from the header cap. (might have got it cross threaded thinking it was tight.
but there is still the probem of it being a non starter how do these dirty diesel things work????? if the pump has to much advance on it will it 'flood' the chambers like a petrol causing non starting??????
come on guys throw me a bone here

pump timing is very important...
its like ignition timing on a spark ignition engine...
if you get it wrong it wont run properly and wont start!
Go back and time the pump up properly~!

its baisically 2 belts. one from the crank to the cam, and one from crank to injector pump. it says lock the crank with the pin (done that) then rotate the engine till the crank hits the pin and wont turn anymore....then insert pins into the injector pump and cam.
both the injector and cam have a vernier on them and the pin holds the inner bit so you can slacken off and rotate the gear wheel that sits on the belt.
so with the pins in place i run the belt up from the crank, round the vernier and over onto the tentioner. with the vernier bolts slack it says to release the tentioner so that it takes up the slack and pulls the gear wheel round a bit as it does so. tighten the tentioner and vernier bolts. rotate engine twice, re-insert pins and double cheack!
this is what i have done and it still wont bloody work! im getting soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stressed that i think im going to cry
anyone live near coventry with some tools that can come and help?
