Default chipping car / warrenty?

im looking to get a new car for work

also been looking at getting it remapped / chipped just to help on the economy

can the dealer tell if its been chipped? would it effect warranty?
guessing it would as it would be their get out clause

just wanna know for sure

what can you get away with doing that is warrenty friendly?

Don't know about a dealer but I did read somewhere that a Bloke with a Focus RS got his insurance payout refused after an accident. The assessor walked up and plugged a black box into the obd 2 port. From that he could tell it was blue finned and as it wasn't declaired he didn't get his money!

"For economy" yeah right

Unless it's a Ford with a Mountune map, I don't know of any manufactures who honour warranties for cars that have had their maps 'tampered with'.

Stu may know different though!
