Sounds a bit sick..... head off time.
However I think Tony has got it in one. Just shows how good he is to give a full technical diagnosis over the internet from just the one post

Send it! engine in terms SHAT its self..
You need to remove the head, any cunt with a ratchet can do that so off you go and come back when you are done..
and its all piston related.. if its pressured you could also be looking at a head skim.
You will need a Head Gasket and some Balts, so while your there go get the head pressured tested and checked.. you don't wanna be putting that back on and finding out its blown the head gasket too, you'll need to then do it all over a again.
Chop chop.. haha

diplomatic
imply ability to avoid offending others or hurting their feelings, especially in situations where this ability is important. Diplomatic suggests a smoothness and skill in handling others, usually in such a way as to attain one's own ends and yet avoid any unpleasantness or opposition: By diplomatic conduct he avoided antagonizing anyone. Politic emphasizes expediency or prudence in looking out for one's own interests, thus knowing how to treat people of different types and on different occasions: a truth which it is not politic to insist on. Tactful suggests a nice touch in the handling of delicate matters or situations, and, unlike the other two, often suggests a sincere desire not to hurt the feelings of others: a tactful way of correcting someone.

i would suggest maybe, plug end burnt and fell onto piston melting a hole through.
Happened on my cossie, but didn't melt through on No1 cylinder, rebuild though :-(

Why cant people tell the truth when it comes to these things ?
There is no way in hell the engine will melt anything all of a sudden sitting at a lazy 70mph cruise.
Now if you happened to be boosting the shit out of it before hand, then yes it is quite possible.
But why not give an accurate account of the circumstances leading up to it ?
A bit like a wanker that brought a Subaru in I helped tune. Not running properly, and said it just happened when driving normally. An underbucket shim had dislodged and he was very lucky not to have dropped a valve.
The only way that would ever happen, is if he was abusing the shit out out of it. But of course he denied everything.
His mate was a bit more honest though.
Either way it sounds fucked.
