congrats to stevieturbo for the win on drag and second on top speed, that granada is one of my favourite fords,

I could easily have gone a lot faster in the 1km, as that time was just an easy first run. I wasnt expecting this bombshell though early in the day !

Although this photo is driving through Scotland on the way home. And yes, only a complete idiot races and drives with oil pressure this low !! And the gauge isnt faulty either.
That'd be around 5psi, which isnt particularly good for any engine lol

We had no real interest in top speed, just did a single conservative run at round 600bhp for 171.5. We can run just shy of 180 at the km when running engines full 700 bhp potential.

3 fords from what I can work out? Looking at the times, I'd say in terms of RWD there could of been a few cars cossies out and done just as well as those, and maybe in FWD as well, but I can't think of many thst would run 9's in 4wd like that lot, next year peepes. Also well done Stevie, shows there's life in the old blue oval yet.

Cam bearings have moved ( again )

Despite the ridiculously low oil pressure and me driving it. Crank/rods etc seem fine. Pump was certainly trying to keep up anyway, but with the cam bearing oil drillings open to air, it was spewing all the oil straight back out.

Just need to figure out why the fuck they are moving, and how to stop them ! Second time it's happened this block.
Although this time I fitted the bearings lol....any wonder it's worse

well must be a good engine if it got you back over the water with oil pressure like that lol

I put a gauge with numbers on it when I got back home. 2psi at idle, and 7psi at 2000rpm lol

I guess as long as there is oil flowing and present, if the oil is good, then it should still do the job.
I'm amazed the hydraulic lifters didnt take more of a battering though. Only a few times did they get noisy after idling for a bit and some stop starts.

Often it is an excuse. But often it is because the setup hasnt been tried, tuned and tested at higher boost settings.
Or because some aspects arent finished and wouldnt handle more power etc

And for many, engines are built literally the night before some events. So better to get some testing done on low safe settings, than to rush in foolishly with a high setting

Plus Elvington isnt eactly the grippiest place for a 2wd car. More power isnt always what you need.

Or because some aspects arent finished and wouldnt handle more power etc

And for many, engines are built literally the night before some events. So better to get some testing done on low safe settings, than to rush in foolishly with a high setting

Plus Elvington isnt eactly the grippiest place for a 2wd car. More power isnt always what you need.
that is true but from past knowledge.... rikylee has a good excuse book

So do 90% of people who enter such events. And often the excuses start before they even get there.

What was your excuse ?

no excuses from me tbh! its just is what it is!

my car wasnt built and even if it was focus 'RS's dont get power down well off the line so would make poor 1/4 times so it wouldnt interest me

altho i would love to have a go on handling course! and my mate won the FWD class (jonny) in his GR Performance built astra.... so we have DEEP competition haha

Because he was winning, why risk going on the higher setting with a higher chance of breaking something. Surely that wasn't a serious question? At least think before you try to have digs. Are you suggesting we need an excuse for not beating them by more?

The same car ran a 10.5 today, which adds more to its records, fastest B series in the uk. Fastest 1.6, and possible if not the fastest b16 civic on pump fuel. (the yanks all run E85+)

Various reasons for not running higher boost, it has been tested to over 2 bar. I feel with slicks it would almost certainly run 9's but doubt the gearbox would do more than a couple of runs.

Also should be noted the car ran at 1000kg's weight today, (around 50kg more than normal) to meet Outlaw drag series rules.
