Filled the car up today when the tank was full the pump auto stopped and I could hear fuel dripping. It was pissing out the black tube. What is it and why did this happen?
thats the overflow pipe, there is a little hole inside the filler neck when the fuel reaches the top of the filler neck it drains through that hole out of that pipe instead of spraying back at you all over your clothes/car
used to have loads of people coming in to fords when capless filler necks came out.if u dont hold the nozzle at the right angle it will come out the overflow pipe.

It's not an overflow pipe, it's actually another breather, so fuel doesn't get stopped due to pressure, I would first check it has not come detached from the filler neck.
Hi, first of all sorry for bumping this thread from dust. My 09' 1.25 Fiesta leaks from small hose next to rear left wheel beneath car when refueling. Leak happens after first "click" on pump. I think it leaks from same hose as from a picture above in this thread. Is that really considered "normal" from Ford dealers view?
