Default Ebay Postage Question.........

I've just cleared out the garage and sold loads of me old junk, 80% of it sold and half of it has been either collected or was small enough to be posted in jiffy bags.

Now my problem is that i have a bad feeling i have under estimated on how much postage is going to be on the left items, most of which are large, bulky and heavy.

D'ya think it'll be ok to email the winning bidders and tell'em they got excess postage fees to pay providing their over what i have already quoted??

If you quoted a fiver for instance to send, then you should stick to your original quote imo
Bit naughty to bump the price, esp after auction end.

If you are honest about it then go for it? If I thought the seller had made a genuine mistake then I would pay up or you can split the difference..?

So what your telling me is that you take all ya heavy stuff to the PO, weigh it, take it home, wrap it, take it back to the PO and post it??

Course ya do!! Complete guess work and nothing else.

I would be right pi$$ed off if i got charged a £10 or something for just postage and the little label on the front said "Postage Cost £4.50 Standard Parcel"

I'd would rather under quote, than rip genuine peeps off.

If you weigh it you can go online and find out how much postage is going to cost

www.royalmail.co.uk

Should be able to do it there

If it helps you out mate, I can take some of the smaller items to work and post them for free, should help redress the balance

It is mate!
If you asked me to pay extra after the auction had finished i would tell you where to go Did it not cross your mind to get the bathroom scales out and at least get an idea of the weight and then go onto either www.royalmail.com or www.parcelforce.com to get a better idea of the costs involved?

What did you estimate the postage to be on those 2 items out of intrest? I would guess at circa £7-8 each via parcel post!

No you find a set of ol bathroom scales n weigh it
If you cant do that then just estimate on the + side, or swallow the difference n learn by your mistakes.
Tight wod.

Some people may be fine about it, but many of them won't. It could affect your feedback aswell, and they may put future potential buyers off.

Yes your mistake so don't expect others to pay for it
As for over pricing postage as long as its not stupid ie double then i would rather do that than under. If i am buying something off ebay i always subtract the postage costs from what i am prepared to bid up to and have a price delivered that i am prepared to pay! So what that person is charging for delivery is of no real importance.

Yoou win some you loose some........ if someone told me the postage had gone up AFTER the auction I wouldn't pay it....... if I then didn't get the item because it wasn't sent due to this it'd be negative feedback for the seller stating this ....

I have had to swallow postage costs on several occasions due to misjudging the cost..... sold an item b4 for £1 + £5 postage and it cost me just over £7 to send it.....lol.

Do you know anyone who actually has an account with Parcel Force or similar as they get a good discount from advertised prices and this could save you a few £££

Its not loads, were talking prob max £5 per item - but i've included good packaging i.e. Bubble Wrap.

Its all bloody awkward sized things tho, so i cant just bung it in a box and have done with it.

AGGGHHHHHH

Never mind, i'll know better next time.

What i do is to quote in the auction that item can be collected or posted using cheapest method i can reasonably find. i will then guess the cost of postage and normally double it etc. Once i have posted the item i include a cheque or refund using paypal the difference in postage.

If it's written in the ebay auction text if they bid they are accepting your terms and conditions and shoud be prepared to pay up to the amaount i have quoted but will probably get around half the postage cost back.

As i hate people that quote £10 to post something like a CD!
