Default Intergrale EVO`s

Ive been wondering about this for a while , how come you never hear about some mental spec Delta EVO ?

2 Litre Turbo 4WD , surely someones built something ludicrous havent they ?

Ive always had a little soft spot for one and makes me smile whenever I see one on the road ( cue build quality remarks etc )

For some reason they aren't that easy to tune. Tuning them takes big money so that means there aren't many big power ones around.

ah yes, the gearboxes being weak does ring a bell, or possibly its the diffs too.

I know someone who has a yellow one but he never brings it out - meant to be real nice too

biggest power one ive seen was running 400bhp, was at auto italia a fair few years back, painted matte black ( before everyone else wraped there supercars ) was stripped out and belive was perspexd up,

My mate had one years back EVO1 i think, with factory fitted water injection, was quick in standard form, had it slightly tunned to 290bhp, then put it through a wall backwards!

there used to be a really tidy one in the next village to me the number plate was the coolest bit of the car,

A16EVO in between the 16 and evo he had a small v A16vEVO looked really cool with this finishing touch, until i saw him in the multi storey car park having to climb over the seats as it LHD lol

well its obvious dude

lancias were shite cars and the company pulled out of the uk, that then makes it very hard to run one properly as the interest falls off and so does the supply of bits to used cars and then values so to prove Marvs point when was the last time you saw a Lancia on the road in the UK that wasn't a Intergrale ?

Now you go to Italy and theres Lancias all over the place obviously with Italians running crazy HP in Deltas,if you knew Italians they don't fuck about and extract plenty of power out of them.
They also do crazy things with Uno Turbos too

Does it have some kind of strange brake setup where the discs are on the other side of the suspension or something?

If you mean inboard mounted discs like the older jags had used to keep unsprung weight down, then from what im aware no they didnt have them but could be wrong!

But how many of them are there really? I supose there ain't a large enough market in the uk for people to develop patrs for them. Like even a ford with a real week gearbox can be sorted due to the fact that there is a lagre enough market for them. Also aren't they all LHD? I be that put buyers off. Really cool looking car though.

I've had 3 of them an early 8 valve,a 16 valve and an EVO1 ...........out of all of them the 8 valve is bulletproof being derived from the Fiat 2.0 litre twincam that we saw in the Strada Abarth (had one of them as well.) very robust and rarely gives trouble until Lancia decided to put a 16v head on due to a design oversight they did'nt make the cambelt wide enough so subsequently the cambelt and overall width of the pulleys is a major weak spot which is why anyone in the know will change belts every 16,000 miles.Yes the gearbox's,diff's,driveshafts are all pretty weak and can't take anything more than 300bhp reliably hence everyone then has to move onto the heavy stuff which is expensive so not many big tuned ones about plus the engine management is very basic and well out of date which does'nt lend itself to tuning that well. All genuine cars are left hookers so difficult to drive fast in this country especially over taking, but on a brighter note you can get the thing to stand on its nose with a decent set of brakes and corner like its on rails even embarrasing the later modern stuff still...........i miss my EVOS like crazy but for some insane reason i've now got an Alfa SZ ...........totally untunable..........lol.

Popular abroad but less so over here.

There is still a healthy lancia scene over here, In fact my mate built a pretty cool Y10 intergrale about 10 years ago, think he still has it.
