Does anyone know the volume of a 2wd Cosworth plenumchamber with the elbow?

 

No,but it restricts after around 440bhp.

 

Yup, so i heard.. but the restriction is because of the elbow, isn't it?
The idea was to fit a "custom" chamber, like the ones Rainbird, Porkie etc uses but with the same volume as the old...
So i don't have to get the car remapped or whatever.. Or is it a crappy idea?
But the idea of fitting such is mainly because it looks cooler than the old...

 

for anyone that knows... or someone that could be bothered measuring it..

the measurements of a 4wd or a escos plenumchamber would also be helpful..

 

hey rob.

if you can wait a bit, i will be removing the 2wd plenum cover and elbow sometime this week or next week and replacing it with a 4x4 one and could measure them for you by filling them with water.

that would be literally just the cover and elbow though, not inlcuding the inlet manifold at all.

anyway, the volume is nothing to do with how much they flow, rather it's more to do that a larger volume has more chance of equal filling to all cylinders.

The idea, stupid or not, was to (try to) make a new plenumchamber and get a better flowing one without having to remap or anything.. So i figured that i would be a good idea to make a chamber about the equal size as the original.. Or am i waaay out here?

 

if it's better flowing, then you'll need a remap. the volume has nothing to do with the flow rate, it's more a factor of diameters, bends etc.

as i said, you can have one that flows the same, but a bigger volume will have more chance of giving equal flow to all 4 cylinders (rather than favouring cyl. 3 as normal cossie ones do).

 

ok... i wish i found enginetheory a bit more exciting so i knew this stuff...
so that's why it can be, and it's said to be, a good idea to use a spacer on the plenumchamber? so all cyls get same flow?

then i might just understand.. or not..
