Default Hub nut direction - which side of car?

Ok guys,

I've taken all 4 hubs off my Saff Cossie, powdercoated and replaced with new bearings. I know all 4 went back together how they came off, but are they correct, as from what I've just read on the net I'm not sure they are

Both drivers side hubs are left hand thread, is this correct??

It makes sense that the left hand threads would be on the left and the rights on the right so they wont undo while travelling forward , sounds like someone has had it apart before and maybe got them mixed up mate

Just ordinary 2wd Saff afaik! Hmm I'll get the fronts in a vice tomorrow to check they're not both rht!

I think the rear hubs are inter changeable? If so I can just make sure I fit them the correct way around?

The rear hubs are interchangable left and right as are the fronts but the fronts both do up as normal and it's only one on the rear that's the wrong way round. Front hubs really need to be done up when they are on the car but I've simply stuf them I. A vice and bolted a brake disc and caliper to the hub and jammed a screwdriver into the vanes of the disc to stop it from turning

Dojj, surely the fronts aren't interchangeable due to the caliper mounting etc? The fronts are easier to do up in a vice due to the nut doing up from the back!

Can you confirm which side rear is lht?

The bit that you are tightening up isn't handed mate, that's because it slots inside the knuckle of the hub where as what you are refering to is the hub face

not too clued up on the 2wd stuff though but would like to know as I'm about to change a set of bearings on mine

The 3 doors were built with the front left hand thread fitted to the N/S front and they often came loose, there was a tehcnical buliten in the 80's for the front to be swapped over from side to side
