Default engine swap

bought a zetec s with shot motor for 16 year old son. cuz of insurance rates fitting another 1.6 out of the question(2.500 quid) have access to a 1.3 donor car. does anyone know if you could fit the engine into the zetec. am an old california hot rodder so know my way around cars. chrz

yep im sure you could fit the engine but as soon as you tell your (or his) insurence that the engine has been changed for a non standard engine regardless of the engine size the insurence will go up

clarke has it in a nutshell really, modified tends to cost more than a bigger engined standard car.

how about swapping the zetec s bumpers, side skirts etc, all the fun bits onto the lesser car?

chrz mate .seems insurance companies dont like the word zetec. qouted 1000.00 less for 1.3. will look into it. thanks

A friend tried.this.. Rotten 1.3mk5 with good engine and new clutch and had a 1.4 mk4 clean as you like body but engine knockin it bollox off... He was quoted more on the engine swap insurance than both cars wer worth lol.

You could always ask to speak to the underwriter of the insurance co, I had the same issue when insuring my mk1 mondy auto, just rebuilt the engine, 1st oversize pistons, new shells etc etc all std, but they insisted it was modifed, can see their point tbh as it is modified from how ford made it, spoke to underwriter at Privelege she was a right car nut knew her nuts and bolts ok, insured then no bother at all.

You told your insurance company that you rebuilt your engine to standard spec?!

Do you tell them when you put new discs and pads too?!
