I think the White one is really nice, put on a std bonnet and std front and back lights, silver mo's and it would look sweet

got a link?

not all c20let conversions have an F28, F20's should hold together with standard power but the F28 is the stronger box.

Looks good, wouldn't worry too much about the box,f20 is 5 speed,f28 6 speed.it's still going to be plenty enough to get 150 odd mph out of and it can easily handle the power,I think their good for 300bhp?
Get the bonnet and wheels painted and you've got a cracking little sleeper there.

F20 is no good for hard use over 250hp, if even that if the box isn't a good one which lets face it most have been to the moon and back.

Also, just so you know its highly unlikely that any stock let with chips is 300hp, more like a honest 280hp but thats still extremely fast in a bean can !

What happened with Fennys car ?

would want to fuck the carbs off if driving it very far due to the cost of fuel at the moment, but other than that, what an awesome little car!

Jeeeesus that's a clean little Nova. Absolutely fantastic condition and quite a tasty spec list as well.

had a very enjoyable day at santapod racing my mate mike in his 2.0 xe nova and two other guys one of which had a genuine 160bhp saxo vtr other guy had a mi16 converted pug 205, i was running my old E30 325 sport which was standard engine but stripped out (weighed 1015kg at the time)

we all were doing high 14's all day with really close races was really good fun
my opinion of the nova as i drove it a few times yes it was fast little thing but handled like crap and stability at speed was not great with prices these days i think the money would be better spent on a clio 172 its such a more capable car. still have a soft spot for the nova's though

It does depend what is done to the nova, you can improve them a lot, but yes the clio is by far the simpler starting point from the point of view of getting a car to handle as it already does from the factory.

That said, ive had 8 gearboxes in my clio, but I doubt I will ever need to replace the one in my corsa and it runs more power than the clio does, so there are definately downsides to the french cars too

dare i say it a 2.0 zetec in a stripped out Ka on Bike Carbs and megajolt will be 175bhp+

they handle 100% better than a nova and the parts for them are so so cheap

only downside is that its a Ford Ka!

i've just about to start fitting a bike carbs setup and megajolt to my Puma engined Ka which will result in around 160bhp in a car that weights less than a nova, and will be a perfect track toy and it will owe me less than 2.5k to build and that includes having a LSD fitted to my gearbox

Do they handle better with a big engine in the front of them though ?

A Nova Gsi handles quite well and goes alright, a xe one goes like shit of a shovel but the handling isn't great in stockish form.

How easy is it to stick a 2.0 in the engine bay of a Ford Ka?? Both sizewise and also getting it to run??

Funnily enough I was with one last night (mate of tank mike's, its on Mtec V4), fits in quite well, slight bulge in the bonnet but thats no big deal.
As for getting it running, personally I'd use standalone on any track car anyway, so much easier to tune.
But if you wanted to use the standard management everyone manages it in other engines they put zetecs in so I dont see why you couldnt.

Yes I've driven both with a 2.0 Zetec and my own car with a 1.7 Zetec lump abet the puma engine is all alloy both cars where fitted with AP coilovers and having owned every sort of engine vauxhall nova including a 300bhp nova turbo with all the correct suspension and handling mods
The Ka handles better in every sense I'd say my current setup is near enough on par with a standard 2.0 16v nova performance wise but has the huge advantage it will round corners

My wifes Sportka feels even better with it being slightly wider track I can throw it into any corner and turn in and it grips where as a nova understeers and goes straight on

You can get pretty good power out of the 1.7 lumps anyway, 200bhp isnt a big drama on a set of bodies.

Custom drivers side engine mount (can be made or bought cheaply online) use standard gearbox and shafts, cut slam panel to fit the cam cover casing

Chestersport cars do a complete off the shelf bike carb conversion and megajolt management for the Zetec engines the map is a very good base map
And the kit is Ł750 which is cheap considering you can take a standard 2.0 Zetec with this setup and a decent exhaust manifold and get 170bhp from it add cams and head work and you will be nearer 185-190bhp

This is route I have taken on my 1.7 puma engined Ka and once I've added some cams I'm aiming for 165-170bhp and everything else can remain stock as they are an all alloy engine with steel crank and rods and very cheap to buy 2nd hand if I blow it up

i dont think a Ka is lighter than a stripped nova...

and while a Ka may handle better as standard, a decent spec small block nova will show it a clean pair of heels i bet

What makes you say that:

Curb weight 820–962 kg (1,808–2,121 lb)
1,019*kg (2,247*lb) (SportKa)

Which is on par if not lighter than a GTE/GSI model

Mine will be lighter still having the puma engine, I think you would find the tuning capabilities of both types of smaller engine are not far off each other
Just that you can fit the 1.7 zetec as fit and forget but the vauxhall engine will require money to be spent on it

the kurb weight of my car was 735kg before i stripped it out. took out 45kg of interier and sound deadening (weighed it all) and the small block series of engines are very light comparred to the big block C20XE/LET engines.

plans for my engine are a supercharged 1.8 small block and some fiberglass goodies to keep the front weight down.....

hoping for 190-220 BHP

My little turbo nova was a annimal but a pure ban mobile ! everytime i was in the thing i was doing 150 mph + on the speedo calibra clocks & 6 speed box ! lit the tyres in 3rd in the dry dont know how good it would have been on track would take a bit of money to get it handling better i think one on throttle bodys would be better on track with decent suspension ! no good for the roads tho if you want to keep your licence you get the urge to race everything that moves in them for a laugh i would never buy one again , you will either cause serious injury to yourself of some poor innocent road user.
