as above im looking to buy a lwb transit 52 plate onwards are there any known problems to look out for

Timing chain tensioners can give grief, front wheel bearings, fuel pumps can fail, lower arm bushes, a lot depends on mileage and how they've been treated tbh.

YEP was just about to say bad dual mass flywheel probs.
I would keep away from transits.
If your after a big van Iveco thats what you want biggest van u can get under 3.5 tonne i have the 4.5 metre back one ive had it for the last 4 months just watch out for diff problems.

think i may go for a 4 metre sprinter then afterall gutted as i like the look of the jumbo tranny

Im sure Ivecos have the transit engine.....or is that the LDV????

TBH you wont got far wrong with a transit....only van i would ever buy....

realy? i driven them for years not had any leccy problems i do like the jumbo lwb transit(biggest onne available) but i need something thats going to be reliable well i understand nothings concrete reliable but you know what i mean and the price is great on trannys

They're still a good van imo (transits), as I said, a lot of it is down to how they're treated. I believe sprinters suffer injector problems, and they're not cheap to replace.

My SWB Transit has just passed 184k with general servicing ect its been fine.....

I know loads who use the LWB ones and a few have gone from DMF to solid when it gave up the ghost........

ive heard that going from dmf to solid destroys gearboxes its wank i realy want a tranny but mine will be the fucker that breaks all the time i need to sit down and think about

ive had a fwd tranny for 5 years now,53 plate its done 105k , clutch is fine
it has just had new front wheel bearings and discs and the gear selector on top of the gearbox seized up a year ago after i went through a ford in it
, that is it it hasnt missed a beat
