If the engine is in a Galaxy just use the RS2000 cams, the thermostat housing water ways are in different places on the RS2000 and you will end up with a very high compression ratio.

The Scorpio 2.0 head flows better than the RS one The water ways are different though. Just stick the 2.0 Scorpio cams, or RS 2000, they're EXACTLY the same and you should get a better drive. The 2.3 cams are nasty things.
@Mark V8; changing the head won't make any difference to the compression ratio. The compression is changed through the pistons on the twinkys. The 2.3 pistons are low comp ones, but are shite and collapse if they get too hot.

The combustion chambers on the 2.0 are smaller then the 2.3, and both engines have flat top pistons............

Depends which engine you're looking at. The 2.0 Scorpio pistons are bowled, same style as the 2.3, but as you say, smaller. The Sierra pistons have 4 cut out in the piston tops, presumably because at some stage the Sierra engine was supposed to be 16V, but never was. Personally I have never had an RS engine apart, but they same the same compression ratio as the Sierra 8V, so I could guess the piston design is similar. To be honest, both piston types that were in the Scorpios are crap, which is why I have kept my Sierra bottom end and plonked a Scorpio head on it. RS2K compression, power but using the Scorp head means it's set up for RWD so gets round the water way problem. The VIS inlet manifold is a very good piece of engineering as well

If you use a 2.0 head on a 2.3 bottom end you're squeezing more into the combustion chamber and will end up with a CR of over 11:1 as the 2.0 chambers are smaller.

Some get away with it and some don't ......

A 0.010inch (0.25mm) skim on a Galaxy 2.3 head will give a safe CR.

A standard sierra 8v compression ration is 11.4:1, or 11.2, can't remember, but either way, the comp ratio isn't a problem. The problem is the shit pistons in the 2.3. After I get my 2.0 16v Sierra running, the next project is a 2.3 turbo and there's not a hope in hell I'll be using the standard pistons, will be custom all the way.
The heads though are all the same between the 2.0 scorpio, the 2.3 and the RS2k. There are a few of us who have researched this to the death and that's how the 16v Sierra with the 8v bottom end and scorpio head came about. Honestly, the compression ratio is changed through the pistons and stroke and not the combustion chamber, hence why they're all interchangeable.

I really can not be bothered to argue about combustion chamber sizes, as long as you are happy that is the main thing
