claybar
never had an issue what time of day/climate i have used it in,but your right keep the panel wet when claying with a quick detailer, water can be used with the bilt hamber one
Crikey theres loads of clay stuff in this forum now, I'v only ever used autoglym as I bought it as a one off but I liked it so thats what I stuck with, so I can't really say for other products. The car needs to be wet (not rainwater though, a light soapy solutuion of detailing spray/lube which you can get when you buy a kit), I did mine when it was really sunny and warnm and buffing was a workout so the best weather I would say is dry but not to hot, like if your going to do it in the summer, do it once its cooled a little. Hope this helps you.
well tried autoglym claybar today and i am impressed felt a bit uncomfortable doing bonnet and roof but paint is super smooth even removed hammerite black paint from when i done my drums
I usually use the Meguiars claybar but bought an Autoglym one at a show as it was cheaper, I've used it for the first time today and I'm that unimpressed I bought a Meguiars from the local car shop. The Autoglym one seems too soft and doesnt glide as well as the Meg, it also leaves bits behind if you catch it on edges of panels, trim etc.

I've used the mequiars clay, thought it was alright, but not used any other brands to compare. As for lube, I use a very strong solution of cheap car shampoo and water to keep things super slippery!
There are lots of clays on the market now but the megs kit is good. Bilthamber do 2 different clays hard and soft depending on the contaminants on the car which are very good. If the sun is beaming and its hot i would do a panel at a time , once done , dry and move to the next panel . As for how long it takes it all depends on how bad the surface is and of course how big the car is and how fussy you are . Its taken me an afternoon before on a bad example .
Its worth mentioning that claying can marr the paint by the nature of it, keep it lubed well at all times and even then i,ve seen marring which could need polishing out.If you drop it on the floor my advise would be to throw it away as little grains of dirt will mark your car eventually .
