Default painters - Prepping transit primer?

That thin black primer that panels come in, whats the best way to prep for a non-laquered 2k solid topcoat?

Thanks

Just flat it back with 1200 grit wet and dry? anything just to key it but not too abrasive, as long as you take the shine off it it will be good to go. id wipe it aswell with thinners/panel wipe as you dont know what its been exposed to whilst stored last thing you want is to paint it and it to react. put some pics up before/after, people love that shit on here no matter what it is, me included

I would take it off with 600 grit and then etch prime it before anything else

That primer is no good anyway. Knock it down and reprime with some decent stuff. If you use something fine you could just wet on wet it rather than re flatting it.

It's a door, so getting it out of all the corners is going to be a nightmare. If I knock it off the flat areas and as much of the detail as I can, will it cause problems later, is it imperative I get rid of it all?

Also, can I use Upol acid etch under 2k?

You don't need to get it all off mate, just make sure it's keyed up properly. The etch shouldn't be a problem, but i'd still personally want a higher build primer to make sure before topcoat.

Yeah, knock it back, prime bare metal with the etch primer, then some high build filler primer and then the gloss on top, just wanted to check the single pack etc from a rattle can is compatible with the 2k primer/topcoat?
