Pretty much always used these on all of my cars and they're a very good all weather tyre, preffered the T1-S' though but these are now obsolete.

If you are only using the car in dry there are probably better tyres on the market, I've heard the Parada 2's are a very good dry weather tyre.

For dry only its pointless getting a tyre with a good wet tread pattern like the t1r, the blocks will move around too much if used hard in the dry.

What sort of dry use?

Dry trackdays or dry just normal road driving?

For the road the pradas are a good cheap option or the T1R will be ok, its just for hard driving in the dry that they will suffer, for trackdays I woudl recomend something designed for that purpose, like a set of secondhand 888s or similar.

That's because every tyre maker wants you to buy more of theirs!!
I've used T1R and T1S, the s was loads better, and lasted loads longer.
There are many tyres better for the same money, I would suggest as I use Hankook Ventus Evo V12, light years ahead of the T1R, as is the uni rainsports(1+2), and vredestein sportrac 3, all of which I've used also.

Depends what car and what use but in general toyo T1R is a soft sidewalled budget tyre, very good value due to low price but not a very good tyre for a performance car use.

The soft tyre wall flexes and they are not very good in cold/damp. I've recently had them on an Integra Type R, and an Impreza sti and a saxo VTS and I would never recommend them to anyone - unless you just want a cheap tyre.

I took them off the integra they made it handle like it was on plates of jelly.

Massively over rated by people on forums who dont know a good tyre from a bad tyre. Try Falken 452 or Hankook Ventus RS2 if you are on a budget or use something like Bridgestone Re050 or Dunlop Sport Max, Conti Sport 3 or Good year F1 asymetric 2s.

If you are just driving around gently it wont make any noticable difference but if you are planning to drive it quickly dont buy T1's.

I use T1R's on my A4 and have no complaints at all. They've been good all round tires.

Problem with tyres is it's such a personal thing. I've used the Rainsports Tabetha rated and didn't like them at all. That's not saying Tabetha's opinion is wrong just different.

As Oranoco says, it is down to personal preference. Tyre size and profile also come into the equation.

I had Toyo Proxes T1-R tyres in 195-55R15 fitment on a 5.5Jx15" wheel a few years ago, and it handled terribly. The car was all over the road, handled like jelly, unless you put the tyres to almost 40psi, then it slid everywhere due to over-inflation.

I have tried another set now in 205-50R15 fitment on a 7Jx15" wheel and they are completely different. Softer ride than my previous tyres (Avon) and still handle well. I have not tried "silly-speed" cornering or anything, but I suspect they should be okay as my other half has them already on her 2000e Sierra with the same dimension wheels and they work well, wet or dry.

The tyres themselves have probably not changed in composition, but how they are fitted has.

That Integra has 195-55R15 tyres as standard (if DC-2) the same as my old set, so I am not surprised by the comments there.

What didn't you like about the rainsports ?, a opinion is just that a personal opinion, just interested, it's amazing how quickly tyres/development changes.

I just didn't think the car felt as sure footed on them. The Toyo's just gave me more confidence in them.

I have had T1-R's and Eagle F1's on my saph and i liked the Toyos more than i did the F1's. I just wanted an all round tyre and not a dedicated track/dry tyre.

I've had toyos t1r and s for years on all my cars, I like them and rate them.

Just bought some for my safe and got rid of the paradas. Which were good in dry but terrible in wet

No. These are cars that have come to me where previous owners have fitted the crap tyres. it took about 300 yards to notice how bad it was with these fitted.

As above, decent dry grip but very soft sidewalls, like driving round on jelly is a very good summary! I've used them on a fiesta in a 195/45/15

Pradas are probably a better option if its for spirited driving, the sidewall feels a lot firmer.

Well 245*45% = 110mm

Ish, it does vary a little.

But either way thats 220mm sort of ballpark, aka nearly 9 inch, on top of your 16" wheel, so you are looking at around 25 inch.

If you want to be as low as 22" then you are going to need something like a 185/50/15, although even that is still over 22"

Im sure you have remembered that amount wrong!

Default tyres

Have used toyo's for years no complaints. T1s were a better tyre BUT for the price and general ragging about on b roads and road rallies in all conditions wouldn't have anything else(T1r) They worked better for me than goodyear F1s and falkens. It a personnel thing though!
