Default Any car transporters out there?

Does anyone do/have the means to transport a car and want to earn a few quid?

I need to get a car from Milton Keynes (MK13) back to my place in Hertford (SG14), can anyone do this and how much?

Been quoted £100 from a shipping company, is this about right??

Cheers!

just had a look on google maps and its between 42 and 47 miles depending on what route they take, even at £2 a mile its £94, is the price they have quoted including vat, its not a bad price,
to hire a car trailer over here youre looking at £50 minimum with vat, then fuel on top, and depending on what youre towing with you could spend £25 - £30

Yeah the general opinion is that 100 quid isnt bad, but i kinda begrudge it when the car is only 200!!

But no, might have to go with that one, or my only only option is to go up there and tow it back on a bar. But will certainely get in touch with the company you suggested and get a quote from them.

Thanks for your help!

but you will have to insure this car if you tow it back with a bar, and then its only ok if its taxed and mot'd as well

That sounds a tad pricey to me,i charged £1 a mile one way and still did ok,at today's prices though I'd say more like £1.30 but £200 still seems way off.

Have you tried shiply? They seem cheap with no bad reports?

Christ, must be SE prices I suppose, unless its notoriously heavy traffic or up over a 5000ft mountain which is doubtful in Hertfordshire that sounds pricey.if I were nearer fella,I'd have done it for petrol money and a kfc surcharge!!!!

I'll have a quick squint over on retro rides, there's a few on there doing it.

haha, that would have been far more like the sort of money i'd be happy to spend!!

I did the journey yesterday and its a piece of piss, straight down the M1, A414, A1 then back on the A414 (hmm, that actually makes it sound more complicated than it is!). I actually came back via the scenic route though as it was a lot more fun and average speed cameras bore me to >>>

Perhaps try Pro-Driver. Run by Joss Ronchetti who races a well known Lotus Sunbeam and must move more cars round the uk than anyone. Do a google and check out his website.

Tried Richardson recovery, he wanted 125 quid

Can't get through to pro drive, will try again tomorrow, but ive haggled one of the quotes down to 70 and I think that's the best I'm going to find really.
