Sounds like just coincidence to me, there are only so many different key patterns so there is a 1 in X chance you'll find someone else has the same one.

Be good to get other MK2 FRS owners to check, but can't believe that 'one key fits all' type thing.

Cheers,
Grant

it's about a 1 in 40 chance.

I have seen this happen before, but it's very rare and just a coincedence!

Will be the same as the Mcgard that are on the Mk1 FRS, only about 10 permutations used by Ford.

As above, when I bought my car the locking wheel nut key was missing so took it up to Ford and they had a box of masters, I didn't see exactly how many, but it was a small box and the right one was found in seconds!

When I worked for Fords there were only ten or so different combinations in our master set.

As mentioned above, to make each set different the costs would be horrendous and would also pose a problem for the dealers if they were required to remove the nuts if the key was lost as there would be no master set.

Locking wheel nuts are useless, as you HAVE to carry the key in car anyway

Locking key nuts are my biggest pet hate. Why do people even bother putting them on? They're always the first thing I throw away when I get a new car as it's a pain in the arse, every time you work on your car.

If I want to steal your wheels I'll do so anyways. No matter how many and which locking wheel nuts you have on there.

+ battery air wrench

= wheels gone in less than 5 minutes...

A mate who worked at a tyre shop told me Ford only used around 6-10 combinations.

McGard themselves only sell around 30-40 different types from memory, not the 1000's that people quote.
