gripper diff oil ???

Default gripper diff oil ???

hello...
can anyone tell me what oil is recomended for a gripper diff in a cosworth..?
ive done a search and only one post says 80w 140 but looking on the oilmans website they only list 2 for the grade motul or redline.. says more for trucks ect..?
has anyone got any info on this please...

Plated LSD oil is one on its own, and you must use an oil designed for that purpose otherwise your diff will not work.

too much friction reduction will prevent the plates working.

ok thanks.. can you recomend a make foe me to use .. then i can try and find it on opie oils unless you can recomend some where else..

mine has 85/140 in it i picked mine up in person from gripper diffs and they told me to use 80/140 but the difference in weight between 80 and 85 is to small to matter so 85/140 is fine and it is used in truck diffs and gearboxes

i use some stuff from a local motor factors,its proper lsd oil which has additives in unlike std gear oil,and as used in bmw m3s etc

hi yeah i think it was one of your posts about the 80/140 i got it in my head from... only looking on the opie oils site i expected to see it say its for plated type lsd s.. ive mailed opie to see what they say just to make sure.. what make oil did you use?

well i went all the way to coventry and picked mine up from tom seal of gripper diffs and he told me to use a good 80/140 so that is from the horses mouth so to speak lol well was about 4 years ago anyway we get are oil from shell its on pump at my work

looking again on the opie site a lot of the lsd oil is 75w-140. lots of makes at reasonable prices.. although the motul is 42 quid a litre..
ill ring them tomoro to make sure.. cant see a lot of difference in 75w or 80w though so should be ok if they say so..

if u was in basingstoke id fill u up for free lol but 75/140 will be fine the difference from a 75 to an 80 or an 80 to an 85 is to small to worry about

yeah i thought as much.. and thanks for the offer shame ive got a month off work as i pass basingstoke on the way up.. ill most likely order some up tomoro .. hopefully it wont be the motul 40 quid a litre stuff they recomend.. ive used redline stuff before and had no problems but they do castrol in the same grade too so a few to choose from...
