dump valve question
my car has got a dodgy headgasket anyway the car was choking up at 3.5k and 4.5k,my mate werent convinced it was head gasket so we disconnectined the dump valve and the car ran perfect, the valve seems to be staying open when the engine just ticking over is this right? also if i take the dumpvalve off will it do any damage to turbo?
hmm right can it still be broke then? cos the car was choking up on boost with it connected and disconnected it was fine,my mate reckons the dump valve could be staying open and causing a air leak?
then with it disconnected it was shut but the car felt slighty slower, presumed it was cos we only nipped the dump valve pipe up so could have been leaking slighlty and causing it to feel slower?

maybe, would give it a good clean, but I dont think it`s the DV that causes those problems.
it seems that the lesser boost, caused by the leaking disconnectd DV cured that problem.

dump valves are for gays and the confused
with all the buming you do you may well be one off the list
fuck it all of and carry on driving it
if it is the hg then you will soon know
or just replace the said hg and get some piece of mind

not done gasket yet cos funds arent allowing but it really isnt that bad,no obvious signs that it gone thats why we investgated the car choking up,ill pull it off or put a new one on it at weekend cos it runs fine without it just cant understand why its lost power.
another thing thats confucing me is it ran perfect before it was parked up so why would the dumpvalve just fuck up?

it might feel down on power due to the turbo will stop spining with out the dump valve so you will have to wait for the boost to build back up
with the gay valve the turbo keeps it rpm so will feel different
the turbo loosing its rpm id down to the compressed air hitting the tb and bouncing back till it get to the turbo causing it to stall
i may be wrong as ive not seen the car before your problems or after but has happened to me before going from gay valve to no gay valve

a loss of boost could be that the valve is sticking open.. im down on boost as the car dosent like to pull away from a standstill so going to discont my valve tomorrow and try that
The diaphragms can go in the D/V and cause problems, on a cold start so ISCV open on mine you can hear air being sucked through the D/V so is normal.
As to the damage, yes it will but you will get so many opinions! If you actually understand what a Dump valves purpose is then you can understand why it's so important, it basically "Dumps" excess boost when the throttle is closed (Hence the name), without it it will find another path out, the only other place being via the turbo, you then get compressor stall, this makes a noise known as "Turbo chatter", the noise is caused by the boost being forced back through the turbo the opposite way to what it's spinning and stalling it in the process, the DV also aids performance as the tubo isn't constantly stalling and having to spool up all the time!
Ford did not fit a D/V to the car for no good reason, if you don't like the noise then fit a recirc like standard.

nice one for your answers lads,im going to put a new one on it i know it sounds gay but i like it
i have heard loads story of damage thats why i wanted a answer on that but ill stick with putting a new one on it
