We all know the 10% + 3 rule hence the reason motorway traffic regualarly travels at 80mph (in non rush hour). Is this a hard and fast rule or something people just live by?
Has anyone been caught going between 70 and 80 on a motorway as I imagine Police would be a bit stricter on dual carriageways.
By caught I mean by Police car not fixed cameras as they would be set to the speed limit.
Would be interested to know if anyone has been caught though.
Not a thread to condone speeding or encourage top speed reports on public roads either

I know that's not true for all speed limits...my last 3 points were for 56 in a 50 caught by a police car with gun
Motorways may be different though, I can't see the police pulling you over for 75 on the motorway

a copper once told me it all depends what your speeding in. ie: if your in an old shitter doing 80 mph your likely to get a pull however if your in something that can obviously cope with the speed safely and stop quickly they are more likely not to bother.

The limit here is 3 K's over which is barely the width of the needle. Also members of the community are allowed to set up a speed trap. Was one down the end of my road as a revenue raiser last Friday so went round the bend he was hiding behind and slowed everyone down.
It used to be an unwritten rule adhered to by aall Police Forces, however I think it was about 2 years ago it was announced that this would become the decision of the Local Police Authority, so basically it depends what area of the country you are in, and whether the local police are operating a zero tolerance policy on speeding or not.

B19bal - Unfortunately not a lot people can do about it apart from warn others. It really is a miracle somedays you get home with no points.
