dump valve advice
just a quicky for all you turbo people.basically my car has a nice chatter to it but fancy going with a dump valve for a while for the experience.ive been given what i believe is a single piston type dump valve and wondering if this is right for my set up
xr2i converted to efi turbo with a series 1 t3,beiges,ofab.-31,grp a cossie fuel pump, pace erst intercooler and 195 chip.
is a single piston one ok for my car or will it do harm to it?
many thanks in advance

It Wasnt Me!
Single piston is ok on an efi car with no airflow sensor.
the problem with single piston d/v's and airflow meters is that on idle/overrun, the piston is open so the car draws in un-metered air, causes the oxygen sensor to see a lean mixture, and then the ecu to richen the mixture and you end up with the car stalling/running rough etc
on mfi cars, it's just lean at idle and doesn't want to run as the metering flap isn't being sucked down as much as it should be.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
They are marmite for most people. It was the first mod I did as the ST is the first turbo car I have owned. Had the car for 10 months and the dump valve doesnt piss me off one bit, I still love it.
Although if I am trying to get good fuel economy I challenge my self NOT to have it dumping lol.

Not really lol.
Get about 250 miles to a tank on average. 300 if I am good. Getting a fair few extra miles with the re-map. An extra 5-6 mpg on a run to the Mrs house an hour away.
