Default Focus back brakes stuck on?

Hello,

So the other day i noticed that when i brake it sounds like a plane going over me. This has been going on for about 4-5 days now and when ever i move off i can hear something kinda stuck on and I have only recently had a new brake calibre on.

Could i need new brake pads? Then again i thought if they were worn down then they would not rub and i wouldn't be able to brake.

The brakes still work even if i stop at the speed of light but its just rubbing my disk down i think Any ideas?

Many Thanks Eigdoog.

I'm thinking you need new pads at least, maybe even a caliper on the other side, plus discs if it's been making the noise for that long, remember the pad on the inside usually wears quicker

Looks like im gunna learn how to put new pads on then lol.

I only had the caliper replaced as it stuck on with the hand brake and thought the other one would be ok.

Stupid car! been fine till i put it for sale then everything fucking breaks costing more money!

They have brake shoes on the rear as standard. It's a little trickier to do the shoes as there are a lot of small parts on the hub assembly.

are you actually serious?!

what he is trying to say is are they drums or discs on the back?
do you know which side is sticking? if not, take it for a quick run, stop and see which brake disk/drum is hot.
if its the other side to the one that was replaced then its probably fooked too.
if its the one that was changed, take it back to where you had it fitted, as something is wrong.

It is disks all round and when i had the new one fitted (before christmas) it was fine till now.

I did take a picture to ask should the pad be this close and i did check to see what one is hot and this disk gets hot.

There's no brake pad left on that one, and the disc is really badly scored. I would change the discs and pads together on both sides. Here is a 'how to' DIY guide to show what's involved. I did mine first timer too and no problems with them. If there is an edge on the disc they might need to be bleed a bit to push the piston in a bit. It will make it easier to remove the caliper.

unhook the handbrake cable and take it for a spin

if the noise goes away then it's cheap t change the cables, not so cheap to change the calipers

Wow really good guide there! Cheers for that! As im trying to sell the car what cheapy ish disks and brakes can i get?

Cant i just use these on the rear? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Focus-Mk2-14-1...#ht_705wt_1141
Whats the difference?

As rear disks on there own and the pads will work out alot of cash. (£106.68 where the set is £54.95)
