Is there anyway to reprogram the switchtronic auto box to stay in the gear i choose when in manual mode instead of reaching its pre programmed max and automatically changing gear?
Also thinking of having the engine ecu chipped but there are a few to choose from so can anyone recommend a specific company? im guessing its not like mapping a cossie and will be a generic program so i want a reliable source.

Really? My last 540 was fitted with someones aftermarket ecu chip (allready fitted when I bought it) and it was a fair bit quicker than a friends identical car and a couple of others I came across!. It was mainly midrange power but was definately noticeably quicker.
The tickover was a little lumpy when cold which my 2 local main dealers put down to the chip.
Also had my brand new n/a calibra chipped by Courtney when it was new and seemed to feel more responsive (although that was a million years ago when dinosaurs had just become extinct!)
