hey everyone,

long story short i have a 1.6 auto focus in mint condition but the gearbox has gone so i was thinking about taking it off the road and going all out on it. i want to make it a manual with a big engine and have set my heart on a turbo engine but would really like some help and advice about what engines fit and how much work i am letting myself in for doing it.

any help would be great

The 1.6 is a different lump in entirety to the 2.0 - you'd be best off getting a front clip from a rear-ended 2.0 ESP imho - and a disc-brake rear end. Swap everything over, turbo convert, job jobbed.

Alternatively, there is the popular cossie conversion, or the possibility of RWD V6 or V8 configurations. One chap did an impreza flat-four conversion which worked well in the rally class he ran it in
