Default transit connect problem

18tdci 90ps 97k.
The last couple of days, its been harder to start on a morning.
just been turning, then it pulls diesel through and runs like a dream (hardly no smoke)
but its now getting worse.I was on 20 min this morning cracking injectors off trying to bleed it.
once i got it going it was running ok considering.

When driving and i take it all the way to the rev limit, the van feels like its surging/holding back.
Also if i switch it off (for 1 min)then go to fire it up, it still turns over quite a bit before it fires.
and the glow plug light came on today on m/way and the van wouldnt go above 50mph
a quick on/off with ignition got rid of it.

there is no visible signs of a leak in the diesel pipes. anything else should i be looking at before i start changing injectors and pumps.

Cheers.

could be worth changing fuel filter and chuck some forte diesel treatment in for what it costs then see what happens, sometimes need a tow to get going these after fuel filter change mind, also check glow plugs

If i was you mate i would start with a new filter and glow plugs. There is a drop back valve you can buy from good motor factors and you just fit it in the fuel line to stop the diesel from going back to the tank and causing starting problems.

they're coded to immolbiliser on them
think they're between Ł500-600
2nd hand 1's can be fitted but they need to be reprogrammed, so remember to budget for that
but a new/recon pump is just fit and go

when they are running fine they are great, most of our vans are running with an excess of 100,000 miles now and they are all 58/09 plate vans

it's just silly things that don't get done under warranty and basicly wear out that cause issues later on in life, but if you look after them they will last forever

check fuel filter,if its got a "GLITTER" in it the fuel pump is disintergrating! first check pressure on fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator could be duff, this would showup as fuel pump fault on diognostics.as they dont show mechanical faults, only electrical! a also known fault is the crank senser. fuel pumps are known to give up but normally at around 120k...

We have had a few vans at work that have been holding back when driving them and we have put fuel filters on them. If you change the filter you have to bleed it through or you will be on forever getting it to start.
