SECS monitors - that dont work?!?!
I gather quite a few people have these and they dont work anymore like mine, what options have we got to get these fixed?
Think my screen's gone, and today i have knocked a solder off one of the buttons removing the chav leather that someone had put on mine.

i had mine fixed from someone called Spencer - not sure what their user name is on here tho and i think it was thru rainbird?
why aint rainbird interested anymore?
can understand why simon isnt as he got a world of shit when he was doing them, although i think it would be a good if he could fix these as it will be nice little earner just simply maintaining these instead of producing new items for him

ive tried both and neither seem intrested, simon has a new l8 ecu websites that currently under construction hopefully he may start up again in the future

im not keen on the new monitors as they seem to big, alright they are miles better but dont look factory unlike the secs

Short story and this isnt a for sale advert..LOL
I designed the original secs monitors over 10 years ago and havent been active in the business for over 5 years as a couple of mates of mine took it over and ran it but they have since given up about 18 months ago.
If people ask me anything that relates to these monitors that involves me making any money on this web site then I cannot and will not answer using THIS website as it is against the rules as I know for a fact my PM's are being monitored and I will probably get infractions for this post..LOL
Also, it has been mentoned that I should fix these monitors for free, dont laugh, people expect it still even though they are nearly all over 4 years old, out of waranty and on their 15th owner...it aint gonna happen...lol
So finally, I will reiterate... I dont sell or trade using PF so please dont ask. !
I dont mind giving FREE technical advice but thats as far as it goes here.

Simon, maybe a new website called secsrepairs or similar willbe of use where the units can be sent to and repaired for a charge - obviously not via this site
reckon it will be lucrative as people are willing to pay and it shouldnt take that much time with someone who has competent knowledge.
Now im not saying you should do this as the powers that be on this site will be hovering on the ban button but someone could do it externally to this site
Out of curiousity why has rainbird given up on this? Is it because he has the new monitor coming out and is now concentrating solely on those?

so who's going to post the pics?
and secondly, is there any value in second hand items of any description that you can't get service for?
is the secs moniter going to be "nice if it works" and worth nothing now?

may not happen very often but it does happen
i really like the look of the new monitor rainbird is flogging but i will not be buying one if he is the only one flogging them

im quite surprised tbh about mike... he has always helped me out on more than 1 occasion ..
must be a reason ...
shame they can not be repaired really as they were a good product .. hell if i knew how to i would try ... cant be that hard replacing a screen can it ...

Sorry you feel that way, but the problem isn't with me, the problem is with the suppliers - what am I suspposed to do if I am constantly given the runaround by people like this? I can't afford to let them drag my name down, so I have no choice but to distance myself from them. Obviously I didn't do it soon enough if that is how you feel LOL

However, just to make you feel better, I placed an order with Spencer for a new batch of SECS monitors and 18 months later I was STILL waiting. I got so disillusioned with chasing him and getting basically fobbed off, that I had no choice but to wash my hands of this. I gave you all Spencer's contact details (as I have nothing to do with the repairs, these are dealt with DIRECTLY by him), so I am confused why you feel it is anything to do with me, other than by association LOL?
Given this and the position I found myself in with the long waiting times and poor customer service being received - what would YOU have done?
Now that I have found a company that gives the kind of service I require (and the kind of service people EXPECT from me) with the IECS monitors, I have naturally COMPLETELY washed my hands of SECS (although I still point people in the repairer's direction as and when asked). It is obviously your perogative to chose to not deal with me, but the service IECS gives is 100% perfect, the designers are proper enthusiasts and really want the product to succeed, so provide the back-up equal to the best I have ever dealt with
.
Hopefully you can see the position I have been put in and that I have gone some way to explain the reasons for the decisions made. I appreciate that doesn't help you, but I can't force people to do things they obviously don't want to do and if they don't want to do it, there is no point in me continuing to deal with them.....

.As I said, I have NEVER dealt with any repairs of these directly. All monitors have been sent directly to Spencer for repair along with payment to him direct by the customer.....

Having had a conversation with Mark Bowkett, he is in discussions with Spencer to take this on, so all is not lost . As has been said, Spencer has changed jobs (combine that with his large family and football team commitments), so he just hasn't got the same spare time to devote to this anymore. Therefore I think it is pointless sending stuff to him at this stage. Mark will see this post I'm sure and contact those that want repairs carried out
