From the ad:
"The background to the EVO is having bought so many spares from Boreham for my road/sprint RS200, I decided that I had enough to build a complete car"
"Wiring is done, most of the parts are there, it just needs someone to put in some time to finish it."
Which would suggest not. I'm not about to get into an argument over someone else's car - it is a lovely bit of kit that I'd love to own.

Yes, if he has ALL the spares off that particular car to put it back together. I don't think this is the case.

did ford register all the 200 cars before the homologation inspection then strip them down or were they only registered when sold?
Id imagine it would not be fun trying to get that through an IVA test to get it road legal! plus unless he could prove the engine age as being pre 1992 then he would likely have to pass cat test emissions which would be shit. Although bending the truth a little on the origin of the parts would help his cause

You could register it under the original type approval for the RS200 as long as you can prove it uses all the original RS200 parts, so no need for an IVA.
The problem any buyer will have is that it has no provenance, so its value will always be the sum of its parts rather than as a complete car. To a collector it will never be a genuine evo never mind an RS200, and those are the fellas that pay top dollar.
Perfect base for a race or rally version though, but theres no real historic series it could compete in that I am aware of.
Its the kind of build I love to do, but I think its worth less than the current asking price.
Mick Quaife built one from parts and his was silver as well, I wonder if this is related at all.

I'd say it's good value at that money. Converting an RS200 to Evo spec is quite involved, and that engine with manifolds/turbo is worth Ł30k. An Evo engine sold on ebay last year for very good money.
Then there's the gearbox, diffs etc... and then you have a shell left which would still sell for good money.

Richard has so many 'toys' that he opened his own garage.
Not so long ago he owned another RS200 and I thick he still has his 750 bhp twin turbo 6R4 and a modified Ford GT.
That is about 2% of his wold wide collection.
Steve
PS the RS200 in the advert is not one of the 20 factory EVO cars.

well the chassis is so he claims....
you wouldnt buy an RS turbo shell, rebuild it and get rejected by the RSOC would you?
there does seem to be a certain snobbery over id's with RS200's and rs500's.
although how someone can say that a collector would not consider it a genuine rs200 is rediculous. its an original chassis so an original car, end of. sure its not worth as much due to its history but its still a rs200.

well the most famous twin turbo metro was will gollops 92 european rallycross championship winning car with the motor built by former bl works engine builder cliff humphries, loads of people drove 6r4's but not many had twin turbos, i seem to recall Cor Euser driving one though.
the crucial point regards the rs200 is are all the parts genuine ford ???
if the answer is yes you know what the car is,if its made of replica parts you know what the answer is. if its a halfer i'd say its a bastard myself
