Should Martoon get a Lambo?!
#83
Given the choice i'd keep the escort, that cars an icon, everybody knows the "reyland escos", its a real credit to martin and shows how much time and effort he puts into his cars. Has to be my favourite escort of all time, was truly gutted when i seen it roll on gumball, but then it came back ten times better, and now you just want to ship it off to buy a lambo. The escort is one of those cars that should stay with you forever, so get working to make it faster!

Not sure on this one as i have always loved the escort in both builds.
What would the Escort sell for? obviously whatever someone would pay, BUT, what would what you be happy to let it go for?

Sell most of the trick bits on the escort but keep the shell complete, that way if you get bored in 10 years time you could build it all back up then.
Then technically you still have the escort and some funds towards the Lamborghini.
The escort probably sits in the corner doing nothing 90% of the time anyway,at least the lambo would be only 75%!!
It's a nice predicament to be in Martin, whatever you choose will supply a big grin!

Surely the answer is, keep the escos i know i couldnt sell it. And sack off the 8 other projects you said youd let go, then finance a nearly new lambo (1 thats lost its initial depreciation). Then youve got both.

Keep the Escort, keep on top of it, keep it clean and then bring it out for special occasions.
Please dont buy a Lamborgini!!, drive round in a lambo and it'll last about 5 minutes before some cock either tries to key it or nick it.
Birds will think your a complete flash tosser with a tiny weiner...... lol
If you can afford to buy a 'supercar' of that ilk, then there is only one manufacturer to go for that oozes class, gets admiring glances, gets the women all of a flutter and gets you thumbs up from other blokes......Aston Martin!!!!
Depending on the budget, go for a DB9, or failing that a slightly older DB7 & get tuning it!!

That would be a fun car to build, but it would prove very little. Martin lead the way in the use of T4 8 injector set ups, and user-friendly hydraulic twin plate clutch conversions, and GT turbo conversions with external wastegates (he had over 600bhp miles before anyone else), and OS Giken transmission conversions, and reliable 700bhp+ YBs etc. etc. There's not much more to gain by building another Cossie - his work there is done!
Without wanting to blow too much more smoke up his arse, he's a hugely talented engineer and problem solver. My argument is to put that talent to work on some more exotic machinery.
He's also got a Murcielago size itch that needs scratching, so I'm trying to bait him into killing two birds with one Lamborghini!
As well as saying "buy a Lambo because they're damn cool", I'm saying "buy a Lambo and step Reyland up a gear"

If he was to use it as the next step for Reyland i would say its a bad move , not many people over here will ever mod a Lambo. Now Porsche tuning that is something that is going to take off over here I think just look at America.

Hahaha Thats funny, Wayne can now be known as 'Andrex'
We will have to see what happens regarding the car as to whether it gets sold or stays, the second option requires absolutely no efforts on my behalf so sounds good at the mo! Someone mentioned Aston's, nice cars but they loose value faster than an ice cream left out in the sun.

"Has it got a dumpvalve mate?"
"Would you swap for my pimped out Lada with genuine Ripspeed spoiler held on by genuine Ripspeed nails, some chrome 12" spinner wheel trims etc etc... £1000's spent! I'll also throw in my caravan and a dag too!"

As you can probably tell from my comments above I'd personally keep the EsCos as this particular one is far more rare/unique than any standard Lambo. Thats what I look for in cars personally.

If it was most other Cossies, of course it would be a no brainer, but how many Cossies have an estimated £70k of parts in them? Probably not many!
The Lambo is undoubtedly going to be a storming car, and would be quite a step up in many ways. However, I think after owning it a few months, if Martin was to see the Escort, he might start feeling a little regret. Especially if said Escort walked past his raging bull at a track day
