I've had latest shape clio's with the same engine and easily see early 50's on the 86hp version and mid to late 40's on the higher emissioned 106hp.

Suffice it to say that you stand little or no chance of achieving the published figures in real-world motoring.
i've driven the official EC cycle on a rolling road in a climatic wind tunnel as per the regs and it's NOTHING like real life conditions. and manufacturers cheat on all sorts as long as they can achieve the speed cycle needed.

check out this porsche and the 'official' figures that it has:

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/01/p...mpg-hits-62-m/

Looking a bit like a Carrera GT evolved, the 918 Spyder is powered by both a 500-horsepower V8 and a pair of electric motors (one for each axle) producing an additional 218 hp or 160kW. At full gallop, the concept can theoretically reach 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and nip 198 mph on the high end. On the flip side, Porsche says it can also achieve 78 miles per gallon and emit just 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer
you don't get those figures when running on a 500bhp v8.

Chop,
The wife has a qashqai 1.5 and it does about 47 mpg day to day town driving.

Had a qashqai plus 2 as a demo myself for a month and that unfortunately was worse on fuel, was doing 40 mpg at a steady 60-70 on a 60 mile/day drive. When i was doing town driving on the day off it was down to 37mpg.

Probably worse cause its heavier.

With the price of fuel going up it can only get worse lol

I wont even accept poor fuel consumption testing until the car gets over 5000 miles, even more so on a diesel.

Even less will i accept fuel consumption issues with low ambiants.

Our diesels will gain 10mpg plus by the 1st service.

my mum had sad a scenic 15 diesel, same engine as you nissan,
was crap on diesel for first 6 months then it did stat to get better bit at a time
sure by time she got rid of it, was doing 50+mpg, started in the 20's
so it did massively get better on fuel the more it got used
never had a masive milleage on it, 16k when it went at 3 yrs old
so prob looking at 5-6k before it started getting half decent so maybe just to early to tell yet

Chop,
Only one solution for you here and thats to buy my big Audi bus. Drive that for a week and your qaushcar will look brilliant on the mpg.

Was tipping 14mpg dropping to around 8mpg the other week in the snow

It's either 105 or 110 bhp.

Hi Tony

I could live with 37 minimum but I feel like there's NO chance of that right now! 47 like your wife would be great!

Haha Paul I'll pass thanks! Even though I could comfortably fit more people in the Audi bus!

the cold weather has a huge effect on MPG, for example my ST TDCI gets me around 39/40 average on the daily commute and since the end of november this has dropped to 33!!

steve

I do expect this and even my M3 has dropped from 27 to 22 ish.

I still think the qashqai is too low even taking that into consideration.
