Any FWD diseasel will piss all over snow, you can just drive it without touching the throttle, so so so easy!!

Me the other week in my work van!

My VW Bora tdi is bad but may be down to the fact the 235 40 18's are getting near the legal wear limit. Slight incline and the wheels just spin even on tickover.

My RWD Transit hasn't been too bad although last year I did struggle with a steep hill once. I should really put some better tyres on instead of the usual standard commercial vehicle tyres. The weight on my rear axle is 1.4 tonnes which is helping a bit. Last year I had the weight spread more forwards so I might be doing a little better now most of it is over the back. Having brake traction control probably helps too as it brakes the spinning wheel.

my civic vti has been fine in the snow covered roads, just had to be steady, 20-35mph and im fine, got to a stand still on abit of a hill in a que of traffic, the little ka in front of me on skinny tyres pulled away no probs but i was spinning up had to steer to the middle of the road where nobody had driven, then i got enough traction to pull away.

Having 205/40/17 tyres doesnt help, but apart from that been fine

'10 plate fwd 115ps tranny laps it up
even if it goes bad and some other twat is goin for it and you meet you just aim for the hedge and the van will do the rest
if you slide it will straighten you up (if you want it too) and with tc on you just point and it'll get there its own way

my road is a skating rink for a mile then a bad road still but its great, speedo was reading 70 in 4th but i was doin 20 ish
why doent teh speed limiter work when it thinks its doin 70 but really isnt ??? it shud run out of puff at 60 which it does but if you are non tc and flat out spinning it'll go to maybe 80 if theres enough slip

my mapped leon on the otherhand not so good, cos the water runs down our roads off the fields and farms the water flicks to the middle and sides making a solid ice bank but the puddles never get frozen so the bottom of the car would be smashed to bits if we used it

Cossie loves it few little drifts but got to both the stables

Citroën zx is good as well not been stuck as yet.
Sierra hatch I had beginning of the year was great as well only got stuck once on a single track lane up a huge hill, and she had some wide 16's on.
All on summer tyres without chains

1.6 Focus, on 17" MP3 alloys with 215/40/17 tyres.
been absolutely spot on. my road is on an incline & has been ok getting up and down!

in my opinion, its not the cars thats the problem, its the idiot squidgy bit behind the wheel stupidly over revving the engine thinking thats the cure on slippy surfaces. Some poeple just dont know what to do in snow.

I've seen some totally idiotic driving over the past few days to say the least, some individuals just dont compensate for the conditions and carry on regardless!!

st170 with goodyear eagle f1s is utter shite and the handbrake sticks on when its too cold, just the drivers side tho.

x type jag 4x4 2.5v6 auto, is great, even with low profile summer tyres.

my grans pug 306 1.9d estate is fine, as is my astra van 1.7dti

must admit, last time we had snow up here i was driving round in a little 1.2 corsa, that was the most fun ive had in ages, overtaking 4x4s stuck in the snow, drove it all the way from newcastle to oakham 180ish miles (Leicester ish) in early feb this year and i lost count of how many 4x4 i past that were stuck. lol

328 e36 bmw, always heard people say bms are useless in snow and tbh ive found it fine, arse goes out nicely when pushed but very controlable and grip not been a problem like i thought it would have been, only prob is its low so is like a snow plough lol. normally use transit which is good until hills being fwd and weight in the back = no go lol

Audi A3 1.8t, eagle F1s on the front, absolute shite, actually got stuck a couple of times regardless of what I tried. Every other car including my 200sx that I had last year during the snow was spot on.

mk5 fiesta zetec s, not the best on michelin pilots, but, once it's going it's fine. Not sure why the fuck people abandon cars, I've driven to essex and back this weekend lol (from Kent). My old 1.3 fiesta mk5 was better, on skinny tyres, and less powerful it was brilliant! Also got a Landy Defender with AT's on it. Better then most things in the snow, except for when it comes to stopping the damn thing haha. Takes a gentle right foot lol.

Dont think bmw's are snow friendly
they bloody aren't my 328 is all over in this weather, no TC no ABS etc , been going up and down roads at a 45 degree angle with opposite lock on.
drove my focus a few times and that was brilliant even on back roads with a couple of inches of ice and a few foot of snow

My fiesta st has been ok but i think thats due to me being light on the throttle until you get rolling then gradually accelerate.

But must say its the worst car ive owned in the snow, the heavy 2.0 engine is weighing down the front nicely and this contributes to the back end being really light. I come into a mini roundabout turning right earlier and even at about 15mph it was all over the shop, was as if it was rear wheel drive. Very light on the back end these cars.

Quick Reply: whats your car like in the snow ?
