No one is arguing about the existense of rules, it's when and how they are applied that matters. Anyway i don't really care about the RSOC, so I'll let you lot sort it out.

I saw in the background that the Middx RSOC was falling down a slippery slope and I thought to myself let me put my efforts into this club, along with other members who are passionate about the club we've turned it around over the past year, I've always been a RSOC member and used to do everything with the Middx crew, Middx RSOC at one time was massive I don't think we will ever get it back up to that magnitude but fuck are we gonna try

I know the RSOC is not as big and does not have as many members as say 5-10 years ago but say what you want its still the biggest Ford RS car marque club in the country and in certain international areas too

Luciano
I can appreicate what your saying charlie, the club you refer to was an amazing club to start with but filled up of people who did nothing more than act like school children, everytime i did something i was slagged off, then people slagged off others to me, and other meets (yours included was slagged off just to get a rise and cause friction within the club) A certain set of people even started rumors in the club that my wife had left me and that i was living in a bedsit and was not allowed to see my kids etc etc just because they couldnt get a rise out of me any other way, we tried to keep the club as professional as we could but in the end didnt go to many meets because of all the crap that went with it, if we went to your meet, we would be slagged off for not going to the other meet etc, I have pretty much sold everythin to do with cars now, just a couple of toolboxes and small items left and then thats it with cars and car forums for me, and to be honest the best thing i ever did was walk away from the car scene, taking a step back allowed me to see what a crock of pointless shite all of it really was, all we were trying to do was enjoy our cars with likeminded enthusiasts, not to sure how that went so badly to pot pmsl,

glad to here the middx club is on the up and up, good luck with it all mate

Maybe not as childish as you might think Paul when the only benifit i get from the RSOC is a mag and the ability to attend National day, And as has been said above Gizmo aka Chris Ellison is a Kent man surely he must of been in attendance, just a shame he rarely attends and supports his local group

The whole "banning" for a year is totally stupid, talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face ...

In reality, even if no one from a group attended an AGM/EGM, if the 300+ members were paying membership fees, and displaying thier cars at the shows/ bringing mates along etc, where is the problem? If you don't turn up to the meetings then you just don't get your voice heard, and have to live with the decisions that are made, it does not detract from you being a part of the club.

Out of 300 members, 294 were probably unaware of the need for them to turn up, so just to play devils advocate, if 6 people were part of the comitee, then you have lost 294 loyal paying members due to 6 people who might have bigger issues than a poxy car club ...

Sorry but the whole set-up is pathetic IMHO.

as i stated in my 1st post punish the committee of that group for not doing their job and not the 300 loyal rsoc members, still im out of all this bollocks now and happy in a club free of all this shit

In reality are the REALLY 300 members of the Kent group who are FULLY PAID UP RSOC members????? I have probably 50 members of the Bedfordshire group but in reality 20 are paid members of which 10 will be at every meet and every show and out of the other 30 most come to monthly meets once in a blue moon.

Totally agree, rules are rules; but theres one group who havent attended in 3 years and never been excluded, so seems a bit unfair on the ones who have been kicked out previously.

On the plus side, I'm sure Kent and the others will be back bigger and better next year.

For the record:
If you run an annual Regional Day, you MUST attend every year, not every 2 years.

If my facts are wrong then the RSOC's agm minutes for '08 & '09 must be incorrect.

well said as we are all trying to breathe new fire into the Middx crew to make Middx region stand up and be counted again

You and me both bruv we both dipped our toes in other car clubs waters and got propper fucked for our efforts with no support and constant backstabbing, best thing we ever did was ditch that scene ,long live Middx RSOC and all who sail in her

On the Kent issue you guys should be proud of your region as you have a great database of members and proper car enthusiasts ,however you cant tell me not one person knew about this AGM ? .

1-pd, Im sure that lots of members knew about the AGM, what they didnt know was that no one from the committee was going.

Just like with middlesex last year for that matter, im sure several members knew there was an AGM, but none knew that no one was going, if they had known that then charlie or someone would have gone.

Its the lack of communication thats the problem

Why? There are plenty of clubs out there that are small, far smaller than the RSOC. These clubs still attend shows, some have mags, some don't. Most have meets for the members to go to. Whats the difference? For people who could do without the politics the RSOC seems to attract, or who don't wish to be associated with the RSOC (you must realise plenty of people have a very negative view of the club?) then a smaller club is often the way to go.
I was a very active member of a small club for several years and loved it, and now attend shows with a very small group of people, I prefer it this way and so do many others out there.

I am mearly suggesting that rather than jump through whatever hoops they need to to be reintergrated into the RSOC that these people simply don't. I don't see why that is stupid or childish.

The RSOC is dying a slow death anyway, this doesn't help it's popularity. Always struck me as a strange club where people were anal about finis codes, trophies and plaques and general immaterial shite really....
But I guess if that floats your boat, they may have a few spaces vacant!

Stu,

At the 2008 AGM, I was given a free 2009 RSOC Calendar as my then car was on the front cover.

My Local Chairman and I sat across from your 'Chairwoman' and her partner.

This was at the Whitehouse @ Kegworth.

Hope this helps.

I'm a member and have been since day one of owning my cossie thats 9 years, what you have written above does not describe me at all,

all I want to do is attend shows, camping, bbq and beer, have big club meets also get as many of these cars out on the fly as possible because you don't see these cars on the road nowadays

That is comical!

Having sat on a car club committee and having to adhere to rules to retain our motorsport affiliation, they are needed within reason. We have rules around the behaviour of members with our club stickers on their cars, only in as much as they must be law abiding.

We have a membership fee which entitles members to belong to a motorsport affiliated club, discounted events, a monthly meeting, quarterly newsletter and discounted clothing. Elections for all committee roles are once a year. Each year a one off special event is held, formal dinner/ball/fundraiser etc.

No politics, no restriction on cars, no outcasting for going to a different mechanic/tuner. Just a group of guys/girls who enjoy themselves and respect one another. It is that easy.

Having never actually been an Rs owners member then maybe I'm not best placed to comment regarding the rules and regs of club membership etc,I'm assuming somebody knew about this and didn't pass the info on.I suppose they did the crime so donthe time as they say,bit childish to exclude an entire group but as said this won't happen again I'm sure.

My personal experience of Rs owners club meets sadly is not that good.way back in 97 I had my first s1 which was having problems(metering head in the end!!!) and I approached the club for advice.the then chairman was helpful to be fair yet the other members simply weren't interested,as said above, wanted to know about chassis numbers etc which I found a bit odd.

Anyway, the chairman invited me over his house as his son had an s1 and lent me the fuel pump relay off the car, which was very kind.it wasn't the problem but never mind, nice thing to do.

All of a sudden and bear in mind I've known this bloke 5 mins he starts complaining about another member of the rsoc,he this ,that ,the other etc.
Uncannily, said member turns up at the property, both start bitching a different member, again unconcerned that I'm sitting there, this guy could be someone I'm related to etc.

Then, said member they were both bitching at turns up,and they start on someone ELSE.

Dissapointed,I leave and decide not to join the rsoc, felt very much like school if I'm honest.

A few years down the line and several rs' later,my mate buys an escos, does a good bit of work to it and bumps into an rsoc member who, impressed with the car invites him to a mag featured power run at interpros rollers.

Up we go early Sunday morning, meet on the m4 and head off.the chairmans in front doing 50 up the fucking motorway so we pass him as we've been before to interpro, mobile phone starts going from another member,WTF are you doing?stay in convoy!!I respond that if we keep doing 50 well never fucking get there!!

Get to the venue(back in convoy) and some little cunt comes over mouthing, don't ever do that again or well throw you out of the club!!tell him to fuck off, little fucking scroat and grab some food.near enough nobodys talking to us as we dared overtake the chaiman, grow up you sad cunts.

Anyway, car goes on the rollers and makes a cracking power, all of a sudden everyone wants to be his friend as it was the best of the day, people start being decent to us,asking where he's had the work done etc which I found quite sad really and very childish.

I had a 2wd Saph and an rs2k powered escort cab at the time but had no interest in joining as it seemed a load of shit tbh.

I'm thinking of joining now as I've met a few members on here and through the business who seem really decent people so it could yet be an option.it seems they did a good show in the summer and I noticed them in a classic car show all having a good laugh etc so it could be time to try again.

fella ^^,thats just your personal experience as there is good and bad in all clubs ,it simply comes down to choice, so if you want to in the RSOC you abide by their rules = simples , If not there are plenty of other smaller clubs out there but I can tell you the grass in NOT greener

I haven't attended a meet for over a year as the RS has been off the road and my membership ran out last October and I didn't see the point in renewing it and not sure what to do now to be honest. I'd like to re-insure it with Boncaster as they have all my details and haven't got the time to keep ringing around for quotes (

The thing i find quite funny is that of those who slate the RSOC dont feel its worth paying to be a member etc , moan about this that and the other and say its for saddos , 95% of them you see at the shows and ND

Top and bottom line is that they are just tight arse fuckers who want to go to the events that the RSOC make possible but dont want to pay to keep the club going and make the shows possible
