I was the second owner of this car the first only registering it for 3 months so it was basically a new car when I got it. I remember it cost me Ł17,500.00 in 1988/9 I think?. I owned it for a couple of years an thrashed the s**T out of it had a lot of fun as the cossie was very a new breed then and no one new what it was.

touch wood, it was a fooking bargain, the bloke who was selling it didnt have a clue what it was worth as he swapped it for a 328i worth Ł3k, was resprayed and was a good job, rear arches replaced, had a Ł5k recipt from PJ motorsport for a rebuild inc 200 bottom end, group a gasket, new t34.48, Pj live map, new light blues, new discs and pads, new koni's and bayjoo springs, and shit loads more, i cant think of 1 mark the paint had, the interior was VERY good condition too apart from having a dodgy door handle, the centerconsole was loose and it needed wee bits doing, ran very well though, idled good and came on boost strong with no smoke, was only holding 1.5 bar but went very well! Id say it was worth Ł4500-5000 all day long if it had a decent setup and rs500 cooler, i was going to get it for Ł2960 too

Might be off the road then and they just havent bothered cashing the tax in, a lot of people don't know you can claim it back, i let a old car i blew up sit on the drive with 4 months tax on it till it ran out good luck in finding her, keep an eye on ebay/autotrader/pistonheads etc

1 was the 4th owner of this sapphire cossie .done a deal with a guy who worked in a tyre fitting garage in Sutton gave him some cash and a sapphire ghia owned it for about 2 years and sold it to Saxon garage Selhurst where I brought an RS Escort.the last time I see the cossie it smashed up at the back of their showroom one of their salesmen had taken it home and stuck it in someone's front garden wall.i was very upset to see that I loved that motor.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Did an 8 hour round trip last night to go and buy this car, what a fucking lemon. It's been in at about 3 accidents in its life, both inner wings are mullered and it's had one up the back, boot corners are rotten, sills are rotten, arches are made of filler as is most of the rest of the car. We bid the fella what the thing brakes up for but he still seemed to think it was worth more than that. Wasn't impressed we had had our time wasted like that. The hunt continues for a good 2wd saph!

We bid him 6k on it, which is the easy cut up value, would have just used and abused it and then chopped it up when we've finished. It will never be a nice car

Guys just remember no crystal blue or 2wd Cossie ever had a vented bonnet so if a crystal blue car has had a vented bonnet fitted it will have had to have had paint on the wings at some time or poor edge to edge paint matching.
My point in all this is if the cars had paint you be sure on it having plenty of other issues like why the fuck is the door trims off???? If they didn't mask them up they bent them taking them off and that tells you the type of job it had done.

True but if you look at the car properly the door bottoms look funny as does the rear arch, I've just found pics of this car on my old crystal blue collection post, bottom of page five if interested

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Seen this car, the guy turned up to the garage in it, he turned up in 3 RS's in one day in fact, only had a quick look over it and yes it's lived a life but it's far from scrap, it's a 30 year old ford that hasn't been restored what do you expect, don't no the guy that well and no idea how it was described but unless it's been fully rebuilt never turn up expecting not to find rot, filler, bad paint etc
