Default toy car, where sells them now? matchbox etc

I've recently noticed all the toy car brands I had as a kid like matchbox, hot wheels and majorette no longer seem to be in any shops.
Now I have my own son I have noticed there's isn't alot about? Toys r us has a very very small display of hot wheels cars and there's always eBay, is there anywhere else?when I was younger there was always loads for sale at petrol stations for example, Woolworths was another good one.
Are matchbox cars even still made?

Not sure, but if you go to any toy fair you'll see loads of them. If you're not bothered about them being boxed you can pick them up cheap and there will be loads of choice. There will be lots of good memories too, because you'll find all the ones you had as a kid.

Some of the larger tesco stores have a decent selection of hot wheels.

They also do their own range that are only a quid each

It's all due to the demise of the toy shop.
Siku are still going, John Brittons too, Corgi are more models than toys now. Matchbox / Mattel look to be more fictitious based toy cars.
