just drove my van and the battery light came on and the power sterring went all heavy was hard to steer on a 55 escort van

not sure but isit 1 belt that runs altenator and power steering pump

Probablity of power steering / alternator belt having come off is about as high as the Eiffel Tower stood on top of Mt.Everest, on top of Killimanjaro on top of Ben Nevis if not higher.

The problem when something falls off (maybe due to the alt bearing seizing up) and you don't know where it normally should be is that you can't see that it's missing..

definatley as said above. alternator belt. think it run as wells the water pump doesnt it or is it timing belt powered on these. Cant remember

Did you lift the bonnet before posting on here? Would have probably been quicker to take a glance at it first. Belt will be off I'd bet.

yh i did not think came straight on here after posting it my brain started to work and check and the blet had stretched really bad so got a new belt and done the pads as well lol
