Default screamer pipes and track days?

is there anyway of shutting them up as im going to need to fit an external wastegate but love the sound of a screamer pipe so wanted to have one instead of routing it back into the exhaust but its been mentioned i wont get on track with it?

you cant blank it off for track days as you would be blanking of the wastegate as well,

only way i can think of is to have a external wastegate routed back to exhaust as normal, but with a switchable cutout like you get for exhausts to use on the street.

just weld the wastegate flange on to a short piece of pipe and weld it into the down pipe with a plate welded over the centre hole so its blanked off , then just buy another wastegate flange so you can run it as and when you want to with the screamer pipe.

before you buy the wastegate ask them to send you the outlet weld on ring.

cheers paul

Stop being a chav and annoying people driving around with excessive noise on the roads and just plumb it back into the exhaust all the time so you dont have to worry about it and everyone else doesnt have to put up with it.

IMO, screamer pipes are just a lazy excuse because no one can be bothered to construct an exhaust system properly ! LOL

Having said that, Porkies above is a good solution !

I don't know if its true... but apparently putting the pipe back into the exhaust causes turbulance (different speed of gasses ) and small problems with flow and therefore slight loss in power

could be bollocks

Lee, it can do, depends on the exact angle its fed back into the exhaust and what diameter the pipework is with regards to if it will cost you a couple of bhp or not.
