Default Focus ST3 Problem

Hi all,

I have a Focus ST3 2007 57 reg done 27k and on start up from cold it does a loud screeching noise then after 20 seconds or so settles and is fine.
Anyone shed any light on this? or had the same problem?

Evans halshaw Ford want £50 just to take a look which I think is scandalous!

Any help appreciated

Cheers David

Almost defo a belt as said, always worse when cold, probably a replacement belt required, you could check the play on the longest run of the belt to see but I should think it's auto tensioned.

try spraying a little bit of water on the inside of the belt before you start it up, if the noise goes away or changes at all that will confirm its the belt!

Hi Guys,
I managed to get evans halshaw ford to take a look at my car for FREE yes FREE as they originally wanted £45 just to diagnose the problem and its turned out that its the Exhaust manifold that has a crack in it. They hopefully will cover it under the extended warranty fingers crossed! When its cold the crack is open then when it warms up the crack closes with the heat and thats why the screech noise stops! Hope the warranty comes good :-(
