Default mk5 fiesta zs

is the engine a safe engine
just bought a zs with a broken cambelt tensioner it has jumped the belt
took the head off and the valves look fine and there is no evidence of valve/piston contact

Nonsence. Bottom ends are prone to going if not serviced correctly, and oil level is not regularly checked. The black top zetec se is the 'phase 2' zetec s style yes, and is also found in mk1 focus'.

That's what I meant when I said abuse, I didn't mean they didn't like being driven hard.

Depends on how many teeth the belt jumped.. have had a zetec jump 3 teeth on the belt and was alright.

You might be lucky !

Have you tried filling up the chambers with fluid to see if it leaks past the valves, only safe way to check if any of the valves are bent !

engines are so cheep, id want to change it,

i had one in that i put a new head on as the belt had snapped, there was tiny marks on the piston, 400 miles later number three piston literally disintergrated.

you might be very lucky, a head gasket is 30 quid.

id look at this as a perfect chance to upgrade to puma engine

I had the head checked out it had very slightly bent 2 valves but I had them all replaced to be safe. Didn't want to change the engine as it's only done about 61k. I'm just putting it back together then it's up for sale. It's a 2002 car so should fetch decent money when done
