So...Mondeo V6 Alternators
...how much of an arse to replace?
Just ran out of electricity on the way back from the pub in the ST24. Alternator smoking. Lots of oil/crud on it, but burning smelt vaguely enamel-y, so guess it needs rewinding after 112k and 10 years....
Also - anywhere round solihull/brum that does rewinding?
Chris

I did the job on my old mk1 v6...awfull job!!
I found the easiest way was to remove the offside driveshaft for access
also you need 4 long extensions for your socket to get the top bolt out along the top of the subframe with the ratchet in the nearside wheel arch!!!
took me about 7 hours including a wheel bearing change (in the offside luckily!)

Still tossing up options... Any idea whether the st24 and st200 alt are the same? ECP list this one for the st24 and and this one for the 200. The photos are totally different but it says the first will also fit a 200..... grgg!!! Specs wise the first is 130A and the 2nd is 95A...
