I'm totally with you Danny but I don't see the point on a fun track car that isn't out to set the world alight to try and gain that bit more
Honestly you just drive 7-800 hp on track especially a tight one and say you want a bit more
I don't miss what you say I do agree with ya,
Right,
On the old engine which was a good 600 or slightly more in car
At brunters on a warm day mid summer nothing about 28 degrees
With the new engine it has risen into mid 30s I think which was to be expected but still no problems to warrant changing !
With race fuel and more boost I can imagine it would be slightly over the charge temps we would want to see but the car never uses race fuel you know
Only at pod for ten seconds so far

im just saying its a better cooler than you or i have and if when your rising into the mid to high 30s then id say your mad not to try one on your car mate as this will drop you back down to where you should be imo and that alone is a great benefit and will release even more ponnies!!!

So it looks like the Spec r one made around 10ftlb more than all of them.

Pete looked at my cooler and was so confident that its no good that i trust he will prove the spec r in front of my very eyes to be far superior and thats why im going to do tests on my car and then it will prove it full stop..
If you spoke with pete martin you would see that he knows his stuff so i trust him and his product and if it isnt better than mine then i wont be fitting it but im pretty damn sure that wont be the case!!

Martin im not saying they are mate and after having a pro alloy specially built for me just a year ago do you think i really want to just take mine out and put a new one in???

Do you think a mid 30 degree charge temp is excessive on a warm day ?
If it got to the point wherE he wasn't happy with his one he probably would try a spec r cooler but whilst he's dead happy there isn't much point

Mark i dont honestly know mate, pete said this said that looked at mine at the mo and said he would make the inlet side larger than the turbo side to speed up air flow etc and to be honest after what pete said and the way the spec r performed i will be having whatever he decides to build for me!!!lol

hahahahahaha, you dont know what you're having but it's gonna be good?

Its half the physical size as mine, the inlet and outlet pipes will come in over the top like rods and they are trumpeted through the core for better increased flow..also pete said on my car he will make the inlet side larger than the turbo side to help with flow even further..

Yeah i no you have 100mm and when i asked for one that size it was pro alloy them selves that talked me out of it and into this!!
At the end of the day martin if you dont ever see over mid to high 30s and the recovery rate is quick then no need to change but if you do then i would..

Pete said my cores nice but the way the inlet and outlet has been put on the end of the tanks are very restrictive, just wondered if yours were any different??
Your cooler looks mental!!!

I doubt that intercooler is any cheaper than the Spec-R one.
Also the Spec-R one is smaller and lighter so would improve sprung weight for better handling.

That does surprise me Rod, I saw very high rising temps at Brunters when I used one on my V1 Escort in the early days. Does the NOS bring the temps back to where you want them?
This is the intercooler I later used on my first Escort, sadly I never got chance to use it at Brunters as I fitted it just before we went to Morocco but during the Gumball we ran the car a sustained high speeds and very warm temps and it coped superbly. Its 3x 4x4 intercoolers welded together, I would have been happy submitting that for comparison.

The RS500 Cooler was on the car when it was purchased its only been changed since the latest engine conversion. Without massive help from WI im sure it would not have coped. When the WI pumped failed at TOTB we ran 174.5mph harry flatters at Brunters a month later with a new pump fitted 183.3mph was recorded both without Nitrous it sorta sums up how much help we got from the WI.
