Hi guys,

Wondered if any of the website experts could take a look at my new website and offer their opinions, good or bad!

Its a generic off the shelf ez-oscommerce site which works ok in terms of useability and search.
Effective way to spend a couple of afternoons and then end up with a website.
http://www.ezosc.com/ezAUTO.php

just like all the other auto parts stores that people use it for:
http://thedpfdeleteshop.com/
http://www.aqmotorsports.com/
etc etc

Not really sure what else to say TBH? Unless you want someone to comment on the logo?

Or is this just a post to advertise it as you realise there is nothing much you can do with any feedback anyone bothers to give you anyway?

Thanks Chip for your comments,

I would like comments on the appearance / layout / functionality etc., just to get some suggestions on improvements I could implement

Oh and it's OS Commerce by the way.

Plenty I can do with feedback. I am no website designer, and am sure there is plenty I could learn from any feedback

On my iPhone at the moment but imagine that page is your shop front... It should be so much more visually stimulating. A graphic advertising one of your key products would go down a treat.

You dont need an expert web designer or developer to tell you whats right and wrong a prospective customer even the ones who don't buy can offer much more input.

They will turn their opinion into money for you if you listen to them.

Id lose the mobile number for the sales hotline that always puts me of it cries small time and would put me of dealing with you as itcomes across as your a one man band and if a few problems/queries come in at once things will get over looked.

Site looks ok on the eye though apart from that.

Hi John,

Thanks for your comments. I can see your point... Most queries are of a technical nature so to give the very best service we have placed that contact number on there.

May need to show another landline contact number

They undoubtedly will not. Why did you choose to use flash? I'd argue a well designed static image would be more logical to me.

I'd add a landline number, even if it's a just a voip number forwarded to your mobile & add a physical address. I always find shops with no landline & physical address look likes scams.

I think it's generally fine.

The only thing that particularly looks bad is the images being stretched and not the best photos in the first place. There are modules for oscommerce which resize within constraints rather than to a fixed aspect. Also may be worth adding lightbox or similar to allow zooming in on the images.

When I go to checkout I'm presented with a login box, but the link for new customers is fairly un-obvious - "By creating an account at UK Parts Direct you will be able to shop faster, be up to date on an orders status, and keep track of the orders you have previously made." is unnecessary waffle. Reduce it down to a 'New Customers Click Here' sort of thing. I would consider allowing anonymous checkout, actually.

Mobile number: 0787 88086096. Since when are mobile numbers formatted like this? 5-digits then 6-digits. Mucking about with it just looks unprofessional imho. As said, a VoIP number would suit you well. It can be local or 0800/0300 etc and isn't too expensive. See sipgate, pbxes, or gradwell.

Your links are all the same colour and style as the body text which essentially means they are invisible. E.g. 'Forgotten password' link.

Otherwise good on you I moved away from oscommerce because I was finding it a nightmare to add functionality too so keep it simple if you dont want to go insane!
