Default 3dr/RS500 - Rear boot opening switch and centre console

How rare are these. Its a standard center console with the armrest, however when you lift the armrest there is a factory fitted boot opening switch - im led to believe these were optional extras on on some 3dr's and RS500's.

My old 3dr certainly didnt have this.

How rare and sought after are these?

I've got the hole for the switch in my centre console on my 3 Door but nothing else.
My mom had it fitted to her Y Reg 2.3 Sierra Ghia and it worked too.
Wouldn't mind retro fitting it to mine.

Hmmm ... My 3dr has a space in the centre console for a boot switch but no switch fitted - just a little blanking panel. Oddly enough I noticed a few weeks ago that it does have a boot release solenoid fitted in the tailgate

Paul - so you have NEVER seen these fitted to a 3dr Cossie or RS500?

Strange as the interior out my car is all genuine cossie and it seems other owners have the console fitted but no switch.

Surely there must be someone out there that has this fitted

I cant see the reason for it to be on a car with central locking already fitted, and the solonoid it uses sits in the same place in the hatch as the one that activates the central locking so you could only have one or the other.

Maybe someones swapped the centre consol over in the past from an xr4i, does your central locking all work ok?

ah i see now.

Nothing works in my car - i havent even tried to turn it over or even put a battery on it as there are bulkhead to fusebox wires that the rat which thought the 3dr was its home decided to gnaw thru

At the moment the interior is stripped out awaiting bucket seats as per my other post.

Guess these aint worth as much money as I originally thought then -

there is a market for everything, when delocking was all the rage I had it done to the doors of one the shells i was building up and got the hatch switch and actuator from a 4i so that i could delock the boot as well - never bothered in the end and sold it easy enough on ebay so there is a demand out there.
