Default Bucket Seats - how do you mount them on Ford runners?

I have a few Cobra bucket seats and also a spare set of drivers and passenger sierra cossie seat runners.

How do you mount them as the holes dont line up, etc.

the seats have holes in the bottom.

How have you guys mounted your seats in your sierras/fords?

I dont want to pay a hundred or so quid for mounts as thats more than what i paid for the seats

i did it by putting thk steel bars across the seat runners to line up with the bucket seat, bolt thesteel bar to the runners, then mount seat to steel plate. simple and cheap.

make sure you use the right size bolts etc tho, as you dont want them breaking in a crash etc.

i think i got pics somewhere of when i did mine. will try and dig them out

cool - get the pics up.

MY mate said he did the same thing but it made the seat very heavy which is not ideally what i want as the whole car has been stripped to save weight.

The alloy mounts are well expensive and even then i can only find the side mounting ones.

Ive just thrown my sparcos into my daily runner (206 hdi ) and the mounts weigh at least 4 times what the seat weighs!!! Didnt want to scrimp on material though and have them break. If they were going in my proper car Id probably bite the bullet and get some proper alloy ones.

Dont know if any of these might do the job ? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Perfor...ng_Frames/2012

In my MK1 i just welded each seat to a steel bar , and bolted the bar through the floor with big square washers either side , never going to pull through

pics?

if they are the sierra runners then you are aware that when you remove them they go all side to side aren't you as there is nothing to hold them "square" once the bolts are undone

unless these are specifically for the seats that you are tying to fit?

RAn the problem you have is the bolt spacing on the cobras is different to the standard seats. Plates like that exist to rectify the problem. you could knock them up yourself quite easily.

You need to know the space between the runner holes, space between seat holes, forward and side to side and just make holes in the metal slat to suit.

my seats are too narrow for the ford seat runners - approx 1.5 - 2" out.

Seats are Cobra Clubman

shit, sorry for got to sort them pics out for you.

them pics above, are basicly what i made up.

if you can, bolt the runners into the car (the one they came from), just the runners. This will then give you the correct spacing so they can still slide back and forth.

now measure the gap across the runners. and get some metal cut to this length. then fix this to the runners.

heres a crappy pic i did quickly for you.lol the red bit is the metal you need to get cut.

Yes you bolt the plates to the seat then the seat to your original runner. I thought i had some pictures of mine when i put them in my car but i cant find them now but i found it best to have a trial fit as it were out of the car to make sure the sliders work properly. As the plates are a one size fits all type of jobby (hence all the differant holes) i needed to make a couple of spacers up to go inbetween the runners and the seat as my slider mechanism caught ever so slightly and stopped the seat from moving as free as i would of liked so its easier to do this out of the car obviously.

Cheers Mark.

I took a seat base apart, taking the runners off the frame. I was thinking about mounting side mounts on the rails that mount to the floor.

Realise that you're not using sidemounts but the principle is the same - rails off the base, attach mounts to the rails.

I made them myself, just got some flat plate from work, and drilled it at home. Didn`t take long to do
