Default Ferriday head gasket or Cometic ?

Hi need to sort out what head gasket to put on my engine, was going to put a Cometic on but some people had problems with them so changed my mind.
then I read in Fast Ford about ferriday copper head gaskets and how good they were.
what do you think do you know anyone that uses a Ferriday copper head gasket ?

I phoned ferriday this morning to enquire about it.

they said their gaskets would only be advantageous if the block was completely flat and it was running big power.

The guy was completely honest and i didnt buy one.

Im gonna go for a cometic one i think.

If ur unsure, give them a call and they will go into detail with u about their gaskets. Seem to be very helpful.

Mick Rogers Cortina and Danny Kirk's Saff run 10s and 11s respectively, both have loads of power and gas. They both tried lots of different MLS options which all went bandy in some way - neither have had a failure with the Ferriday gasket and sealing rings.

Cometics will tell you the same! my mate called them and had a chat with one of the guys there. Pretty much both the head and block need to be FLAT! of it might not do it's job. There's also 2 gaskets so I'm wondering if the one that failed on peoples car was the non "HD" gasket?

these copper head gaskets, are they literally just a sheet of copper cut to shape?

if that works, why isnt that commonly used?

copper gaskets are very common in drag racing, normally they are very thick though, which may be why they dont get used on cossies much, as it would really fuck up squish.

I sometimes use handmade copper/kevlar mix gaskets though and have never had a problem with them.

If you check the dished shape of a lot of pistons, squish was fucked up long ago
