Default urgent starting help needed!

right basicly i've a 56 plate focus tdci and the diesel light came on last night but only done 4 miles to get home, now the car was parked on a steep hill and when i came out this morning the car started fine done about 100 yards and stalled and now refuses to start.
i've put diesel in it tried to start it nothing i've had it towed around the street and still wont start.
i now have the engine system fault warning light on on the dash the engine still turns over but seems like theres a fuel cut out switch somewhere prehaps that is stopping diesel through to start it anyone any idea's as i need to get it started asap.
thanks for any help
andy

What's the fuel filter like? If it's an upright cannister like on the Mondeo TDCi you need to fill it with diesel if it's run dry, otherwise you're just sucking up air!

yes i think it is a upright cannister too there's a valve on the top as well that i've been sucking the air out till the filter seems full of fuel starts for a second then just cuts out.

i'm sure its only air related fault the only thing i got is a easy bleed brake kit just got to think how i can use that to force the air out.

If its just an airlock it should tow off fairly quickly, same problem when changing fuel filter. I always fill the filter bowl up first and release the fuel cap, works for me.

tdci's are a twat if youve got air in an cracking injectors off can make it worse as it picks up a fuel pressure drop. loosen the screw on the filter head and fill it brim full, give it a few turns an it will start, failing that give it abit spray of f*cking start you c*nt in a can & it will pull the fuel through.

cheers nic

Hmm,that's me out of ideas a bit then as that's usually enough.do you know anyone locally with a fault code reader just to check?can't see how it would have run out of diesel after 4 miles with the light on,there's usually about 2 gallons in the reserve tank?

spray it directly into the intake mate, easiest way is through the airbox, spray it after the air filter so if you have to take the filter out then spray it down the pipe work, failing that, take the intake pipe off the inlet manifold and spray it directly into the manifold

cheers nic

*just read ure post ^^ doesnt matter now lol

Great stuff!!!was the battery a bit shit then?we had a tdci Mondeo, been hit but running fine, came in and it was a minter,50k,full history etc.it had a massive battery on it,looked like a caravan battery,so I thought fuck that, that's going on my Cherokee!!shoved the Cherokee battery on the Mondeo and it barely turned over, booster packed it and it just about went!!what with the current cold weather it could just be highlighting the fact the battery is slowly on its way out?
