Default Zetec Turbo Focus?

Hi,

Iv seen a few threads and few companies that have turbo'd the 1.8 blacktop zetec focus and was interested in looking into this myself.

Iv been told i can safely run up to 200bhp on std internals which interests me. Im not looking to spend stupid money on a turbo conversion as it would end up been cheaper to just buy a faster std car.

Iv been told the escort rs turbo manifold and turbo can be used as a cheaper option, not sure if anyone has done this?

My questions are:
- is it worth doing using the ERST manifold/turbo?
- will i need aftermarket management or can i just map my std ecu?
- is std inlet manifold ok? Will i need uprated injectors?
- any other parts need uprating? (iv currently got full exhaust/induction/cam mods)
- will my gearbox be ok running that power? if not wot other options are there?
- what sort of costs would the parts cost and rough idea on fittin costs/time?

Im also going to upgrade my brakes if i do this as well.

If there is anything else i need know i would appreciate it.

Iv also emailed a few tuners as well to get some info, but wouldnt mind unbiased info as well

Thanks

to build a zetec turbo to a decent spec, then buy the appropriate manifolds, then map the engine, then upgrade the gearbox, then upgrade the brakes, then fit an LSD cos the normal diff cant handle the power you may as well have invested that money in a focus RS, they are real good value at the moment, with several selling for around the 7-8k mark.

a much better investment, and all the above is done already!

focus ST is a good choice, not that the VXR isnt a great car, but the Focus is better value for money at the moment

you can make a zetec turbo for about 1000-1500 quid for approximatly 200 bhp. ive done it, twice. ERST manifold will be very tight in a focus, prob best looking for a focus rs manifold, your right in thinkig your standard clutch and gearbox wont cope, assuming its an ib5 box, an rs turbo clutch would do as a minimum measure. The best option would be amanagement change to somethig like megasquirt, with an upreted fuel pump and bigger injectors. hope this helps mate.

oh rite was that a blacktop 1.8 zetec u turbo'd?

if i used the focus rs manifold would i need the focus rs turbo. herd they harder to get hold of?

can i use the racing puma gearbox? is that the escort rs turbo clutch? are all these straight fit? wud 2.0 focus clutch and gearbox be any gud?

also power engineering av told me the stock internals and gearbox ok for 240bhp (like their show car, but i thought it was 200bhp).

also as only looking for basic turbo power is aftermarket management defo needed? cud i just use std injectors as well?

im bit confused now as keep gettin different info from different people so dont no wot do lol.

only want do it if its worth doing and not gonna cause problems with running of car and other parts, but dont wanna be spending big money, but dont want do it on the cheap and caus more probs in long run
